“Breathtaking view, focused staff, for the seasoned traveler who appreciates beauty.”

Just left after six days there on the way to Monaco for the F1...what a delightful find. Scenery, scents, wonderful atmosphere. Wish I would have traveled across from Sorrento much earlier in life. Don't miss comp yacht trip 1130-130 pm up e coast past Amalfi and dip in sea near the grotto. Go north to one of the restaurants on the hilltop...we found via trip advisor and they pick up and deliver...expect a personal relationship after a 3 hour meal.

Kayaks tip in rough current off beach in mid may...or maybe it was the cosmos. Elevator through mountain rock opening into dripping cave.... Priceless.

Don't miss this 5 star...Really. I though I was sick of travel and I want to move in. With their 13 yr old dog :)

Room Tip: All rooms completely different. Inetersting/Wonderful. Cliff over ocean to surround by flower cover...

Another mythical hotel (such as the Splendido) where time stopped in the fifties (but everything is modern with wi-fi)
Attentive if a bit overbearing service, tradition, elegance. This is not your casual place, style matters.
The views on the Amalfi coast are wonderful, the food is excellent. The shuttle to go downtown is the best solution in view of the crazy traffic.
Rooms are comfortable and elegant.
Very expensive, all this service has to be paid for...

Room Tip: All have ocean views, you may want to request a view on the Positano side

“what else can you say”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2012

Here is an example of an expensive hotel that is well worth it! Spectacular views over the water from every room, marvelous restaurant, and close to the village of Positano. This is a must for a special occasion! It's all been said in the other reviews, and they are spot on!

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2012

This place is simply breathtaking. This was the last stop on my wife and I's honeymoon, and boy did we get it right. This place treats you like royalty. We were checked into a room with a stunning view of the ocean from our private balcony, which we frankly expected (but you really can't appreciate it until you are looking straight down a cliff into the ocean from your balcony). What we did not expect -- another amazing view of the ocean from the huge windows looking out from our jacuzzi! Pretty sure not all rooms have this - it was likely a free upgrade since they knew we were on our honeymoon - but it was certainly a pleasant surprise. Another pleasant surprise was a free bottle of champagne, freshly picked oranges and cookies waiting for us in our room. What a great start!

The restaurant was fantastic. We had breakfast included in our room, and their breakfast was fantastic, loaded with fresh ingredients (even the orange juice was clearly freshly squeezed). The lunch was excellent as well. We had our last dinner at the hotel and it was the nicest one we had in Italy. I had the John Dory and my wife had the lobster, and we both loved it. An amazing chocolate hazelnut cake to finish. They had a nice band playing during dinner as well.

In sum -- if you want superior service and amenities, this is the place. I can't imagine there is another place in Positano that can rival this in either beauty or service. Of course, you do have to pay for that and this is not a place for the budget-conscious. But for a special occasion, this place can't be beat . . . we can't wait to return!

Final note: the spa was actually reasonably priced. We paid 75 (Swedish) and 95 (oil) euro for our hour-long massages and they were fantastic.

“Hotel Il San Pietro di Positano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2012

If there is a special occasion you want to celebrate or you just want to pamper yourself, then you should consider the Hotel Il San Pietro in Positano, Italy. The hotel is not inexpensive, but it is certainly world class. Views are breathtaking, the service is exceptional, and you can do as little or as much as you care to do. You can arrive in style by car or by water taxi. We arrived by water taxi and were escorted into a cave where we ascended by elevator through cliffs to an absolutely beautiful lobby. The Il San Pietro is just far enough away from Positano to be quiet and only minutes away by hotel shuttle if you feel the need to wander the winding streets of an Amalfi Coast city. Also, the warm hotel staff can arrange side trips for you. We visited Pompeii, Ravello, and Amalfi. The staff can also arrange guides and other services based on your needs. Positano and the Il San Pietro are special and should be considered for a special occasion.

Room Tip: We were fortune enough to have had one of the hotels most luxurios rooms, however you can chose any...
