“Beautiful, clean & lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

Costa Smeralda is one of the best pieces of sea front in the world and the hotel has its own nook on the coast.

The white building itself is impressive with nearly every room having nice sit out areas with beautiful views. The rooms themselves are done up beautifully with contemporary tones and befitting a sea fron property.

The beach is just a couple of minutes walkdown from any of the rooms though getting back to the reception from one of the lower rooms is quite a walk.

The staff are very friendly without being overbearing and the open air workout area overlooking the pool and the sea is a novelty.

Views from the breakfast area which is on the top are great as well and there are a lot of activities that one can engage in.

“Old school Italian luxury!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2009

This place has 'it'.

Yes, it's expensive, very understated and slightly old fashioned but in a charming Italian way. It doesn't feel at all like a 'chain' hotel. Its' pared down simplicity is part of its' charm and allows you to fully appreciate the true meaning of luxury- amazing service, almost round the clock childcare, beautiful surroundings and chic Italian style.

The staff were unfailingly helpful and their 'no problem' attitude really marked this place out as a cut above.

We took the fussiest child ever to face food yet they were amazing in helping to create whatever/ whenever we requested it for him.

My only small complaint is that the pool isn't heated but we booked for 2009 before we left!

“Good hotel but definitely overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2008

The Romazzino's bigggest advantage is the beach. But for what you are paying the service, food and amenities should be much ,MUCH better. For 5 or 10 times less you can spend a holiday in another five -star , best in their locaton anywhere in europe. Also Porto Cervo is not what it used to be...much more built up.

Neverheless the food is still good and italians are still charming. The weather is only good in July , august and gets slightly chilly in september.

The location is still its biggest advantge together with that fantastic terace for drinks....

“Money to waste? Stay here!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2007

We stayed here for four nights on September 4th – 7th 2007. We arrived at the Oblia airport which is about 40-50 minutes away from the hotel. Expect to pay around 70-80 euros for a taxi. We had high expectations of this hotel given that it was so costly so when we walked in we were surprised at the lobby (don’t expect anything grand – think quaint, old style small lobby). The hotel is about 20 minutes from Porto Chervo so if you don’t want to pay the astronomically high costs for food consider taking a taxi (about 25 euros one way) to town and enjoying a meal there instead. Don’t expect soft sandy beaches and warm water like how you get in the Caribbean / Thailand / Africa– be prepared for ice cold water (and in the pool too) and pebbly beaches. We got bored after the first two days and luckily discovered they had a DVD in the room and complimentary new movies to borrow from the front desk so that helped pass the time. Overall, we didn’t have any problems here but just wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you have a lot of money to waste and can justify spending disgustingly high amounts on food (and if you think their prices are reasonable you’re SICK).
