We were told Hotel Firenze was just down the street from the train station. In reality It is really a 15-20 minute walk- not fun when toting around alot of luggage- better to take a cab!!
The location of the hotel is terrific, right by the heart of the beautiful old city.
The smell of cigarettes is pretty overwhelming.
The room we were first given was drab and had mold on the bathroom walls, but we complained and they without hesitation they moved us.The room we had next was far better.
Our main concern was that the hotel was left open all night and anyone could just walk in.
Breakfast wasn't worth sticking around for,but there is a fantastic not to miss pastry shop right next door with the best espresso I had on my trip, and really fresh excellent pastries, very good prices and kind service.
The managers of the hotel are quite nice, but it seems like someone stopped trying in the early 90's, if they would just try a little harder, change the linens, get some new furniture and spruce up breakfast and lock it at night- this place could be a real gem.
