“Magnificent views and charming hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

It would be hard to find more friendly and helpful hosts than Antonella and Carlo at the B&B Baia Scirocco. The B&B is perched in a stunning location on the top of a cliff overllooking the Adriatic and only five minutes walk to the centre of town. Despite its precarious location, it has very good parking but is impossible to find by yourself. Antonella sent us instructions on where to meet in town and then guided us to the B&B. When we arrived, she offered us coffee and cake. That evening she drove us to a restaurant just out of town which provided endless amounts of quality food at a very reasonable price. At the end of our meal, the restaurant owner phoned Carlo who came and took us home. It was the most memorable meal of our month in Italy. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was wonderful with more food than we could possibly eat.

“B&B Baia Scirocco - Private hideaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

We stayed 4 nights in the very spacious downstairs "blue" room at Baia Scirocco in late September 2011. We went to sleep with the sound of the ocean waves lapping on the rocks far below this b & b. Very private with expansive sea views. Breakfasts on the upstairs sun-drenched terrace were unbelievable - freshly brewed coffee, juice, cereals, yoghurt, croissants, home-baked cake, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, cheeses and cold meats, fresh bread and home made jams; much more than we could eat! Antonella (and to a lesser extent her husband Carlo) was the perfect host, she was helpful and lively with suggestions of what to do in the area, she also shared the location of her favourite restaurants with us (which we of course followed up on; one of the restaurants we ate at twice!). Our room was serviced daily including changes of bathroom linen during our stay - something that rarely happens at many b & b's we stayed at in Italy. The place is a little hard to find, being on the edge of town and it's about a 15 minute walk into the centre (meaning you have to be reasonably fit to walk up some steps or have a car). We did not find the location a downside as it afforded us considerably privacy and rest after a long flight from the other side of the world. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who want to enjoy friendly hospitality in a private setting.

Room Tip: the blue room downstairs is probably the most private. We were told it is also the most spacious but...

“Best breakfast and best place to stay when visiting Gargano Peninsula”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

Antonella and her husband Carlo are just charming people. My wife and I just spent 10 weeks in Southern Italy and Sicily and Baia Scirocco B&B stands out among the highlights because of a great location on the sea, a lovely family: Antonella and Carlo and their two daughters.

When we arrived late in the afternoon, Antonella offered us something to drink along with a fresh baked cake which was wonderful.

We wanted to go to dinner at a restaurant outside of town and were concerned about getting lost and returning in the dark. Antonella said she would take us to the restaurant (5-10 minutes away) and that her husband would come and pick us up and bring us back to the B&B when we were finished.

When we finished our two hour dinner (25Euro each, multi course meal), the restaurant called our hosts and they drove out and brought us back. No additional charge even though they used their car and 10-15 minutes of gasoline. How kind and caring is that!!!

The accommodation at the B&B was marvelous. The home is built on the side of a hill overlooking the ocean, a lovely spot. The separate unit where we stayed was very nice as the owners built the house and accommodations for the B&B.

Breakfast was one of the best of our trip and that is saying a great deal. Antonella went to the bakery and brought the two of us 4 croissants, fresh rolls, fresh bread, cereal, yogurt of various flavors, fresh orange juice, fresh cappuccino, a fresh baked apple cake, fresh jams and marmalade and honey. The breakfast took up the entire table. In 2 1/2 months of travel in Italy, the only time we saw a breakfast like this was at 4 star hotels. That should say it all.

The price for the view, breakfast, room and dropping us and taking us to the restaurant should have cost much more. This was the best value of our trip.

If you want to visit the beautiful forest on the Peninsula, it is only 15-20 minutes away. The village of Sant Angelo is about 30 minutes away and is wonderful to explore. The peninsula is so beautiful and wandering the country roads away from the coastal road is worthwhile. We stayed only one night but I would suggest two nights and enjoy the peninsula of Gargano. The breakfast and kindness of Antonello and her family you will not find any better anywhere else in Italy.

The B&B is hard to find. We had a GPS and it took us to their street but the street dead-ended. We did not realize they are on the side of the hill where the street dead-ends. You actually have to take an unmarked road around to the front of their house. So you have to call them when you arrive in town and let them lead you to the house. It is worth the journey. The Peninsula is beautiful, do not miss it. We have taken many trips to Italy for 1 month, 2 months and 2 1/2 months and many shorter visits. The Gargano peninsula is a special place. Try to visit in May, September, avoid the crowds of summer and go offshore to visit the little islands.

Antonella, Carlo, her two girls, the breakfasts and the Peninsula are worth it.

Antonella and Carlo do not know much English but do not let this keep you away. The two daughters are teenagers, one plays the piano and they have studied English for many years. they can help with the language if you do not know a little Italian.

Come to the Peninsula of Gargano, stay with Antonella and Carlo and explore the area. During the summertime you can take a boat to the off shore islands for a day. We were not here during this time period and were not able to do this, otherwise we would have stayed longer.

We spent 3-4-5 days at many places and regret that we did not stay longer. Breakfast and dinner were an experience.

“Absolute gem !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

We loved this place, the family were so welcoming to us and even came and found us when we got lost trying to negotiate our way there with the car. We stayed 4 nights and it was really quiet and peaceful. Lots of insects on the terrace, take spray or coils to burn in your room. We got bitten. The breakfasts on the terrace were lovely. I couldn't eat even half of it. We got second cups of coffee on request and anything we asked for was no trouble. The wee dogs were adorable too, I wanted to bring them home ! Very very good value for money.

“Fantastic accomodation, great views and lovely owner- the best value in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

When we arrived, Antonella came out to greet us. She speaks no English, but she is understandable through her animated expressions and warm personality. The room was wonderful wtih outstanding views. Antonella gave us recommendations of places to eat and things to do. Her homemade breakfast was fantastic, although on the sweet side which my wife didn't mind. Without a doubt, this is the best value we've found for accomodations in our 12 visits to Italy. The room was clean and spacious and the B&B is just a 3 min. walk to the centro storico. We loved Peschici and the B&B and Antonella made it all more pleasurable.
