“A perfect winter escape to Southern Italian warmth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We booked the Casale Giancesare for 10 days in January and stayed in the ‘Gerani’ two-room apartment with en suite bathroom with shower, and double private patio. A perfect balance of old world charm, comfort, privacy and southern Italian country life with the Voza family. The old stone house belonged to Enzo Voza’s grandfather, with surrounding vineyards, Mediterranean gardens and the Gulf of Salerno on the horizon.

We enjoyed peaceful breakfasts in our apartment and also loved the two delicious dinners that Enzo’s wife, Anna, prepared for us of regional specialties. Their grown children, Antonino and Federica, were home on the weekend, so it was a real joy for us to experience the warmth and fun of the entire Voza family.

Location was central to many spectacular sites:
• #1 was having the spectacular Amalfi coast drive to ourselves! No traffic!
• easy day trips by train to Naples, Salerno, Pompeii (from nearby Capaccio train station)
• drives to Paestum ruins and Cilento coast & national park

A real winter break from NYC and wonderful holiday to experience the warmth and beauty of the Campania region.

“An incredible gem, favorite stop of our entire Italian vacation!”

Tremendous service from this family owned B&B. Beautiful location worth every effort - just difficult to find if you're coming from Salerno along the sea. Don't pass up the excellent restaurant recommendations or the chance to purchase the Casale produced Aglianico red wine and olive oil!

“A mixed bag.”

A beautiful old house in a romantic bucolic setting, we found that although friendly, the staff (I'm not sure if it was the owner) had very limited English.
It was a little difficult to haul our luggage up the spiral staircase, the room had a skylight but no window - and no fire exit - and the cleaning was just adequate. Surfaces had clutter on them, upstairs and down. Our passports were left out on a desk for us to pick up: anyone could have done so.
Breakfast was below average, with stale bread on offer, however the view was superb. The pool area is particularly lovely.

“Really nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

This is a wonderful place to spend some holidays, it's a beautiful house lost in the countryside, but also just near Capaccio and Paestum (with Ravello, my favourite sightseeing place in the whole Campania region!). Really nice and welcoming family taking care of the Bed&Breakfast!!
While staying there, try to visit a Caseificio (where they produce Mozarella di Bufala) it's nice.

“Miss at your peril!”

Myself and two friends (all late 20's) cycled the south west coast of Italy and booked a last minute room at Casale Giancesare after seeing it in the Lonely Planet. It was a small cycle up the hill from Paestum but worth every pedal as the setting is idyllic. The view from the swimming pool is unreal and the owners were incredibly hospitable. We had a great 3 course meal in the evening with other guests (couples and families) and, whilst I have stayed in many places, this is definitely up there with the best. You will not regret staying here!
