We visited during the off season in Sept 2006 and really enjoyed having the hotel almost "to ourselves". It was quiet and peaceful although the weddings added some excitement with the fireworks and music. We were there for 2 weeks so we got to know the staff by name and found them very helpful. They assisted in arranging a 2 day trip to Rome for us. When we returned it was like coming home as they met us at the door and immediately asked how the trip was. The town was lovely, with freindly locals, only a few restaurants and amenities. We were treated like royalty by Pepe when we had lunch at his restaurant on the main street. He even opened up one afternoon just to fix us lunch. As a special treat he brought out his home grown chopped hot peppers that we enjoyed so much he gave us some to take home. We talked to the local real estate agent, Fabio. He introduced us to his freind, Giovanni-the taxi driver, who took us to a specatcuar cave. We booked three of the day tours. Our guide, Paul, and driver, Gabrielle, were the best we've ever had. Shopping and exploring in Salerno and Naples was only a train ticket away and very easy to figure out. We would go to Paestum again and we would stay at the Mec Paestum for sure.
