“Magnificent Views & Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

During our stay in August of 2010 (not 2011), we stayed here for a renewal of wedding vows from my Aunt and Uncle.

I want to say that I love historic sites, and buildings, and this hotel is truly historic. It feels like a medieval mansion, with a swimming pool and church. La Badia is on a lot of land, but the pool and the tennis court (which I believe they have) are within walking distance from each other and the hotel, unlike what a few reviewers have said.

Since we stayed with my family and relatives, we got to experience different rooms. The double rooms were fairly large and we didn't have a problem fitting another cot in the room, making it three beds in all. The single rooms weren't as large as your average hotel room, but they were very comfortable and I can't complain about them. There is also a honeymoon suite I believe which is a separate building from the main hotel, and that room was magnificent. It was large, with its on couch and table in a separate room from the bed. The only con I must say would be the bathroom because it seemed dated, but I believe they upgraded them after our stay there. I also believe the upgraded their beds as well, which would make your stay there even better. You must bring your own luggage from your car to your room, and when you leave you must bring it from your room to your car. I don't recall anyone helping us out, besides my family, but that really didn't matter much.

I really recommend La Badia to anyone who loves historic sites. The hotel was VERY helpful with the wedding, and the concierge seemed like a nice lady, ready to help you with all of your needs.

Dear Thomas N,

thank you for your review, we are very happy you and your family had a nice stay with us for such an important and joyous occasion.

I also thank you for reading through many of our reviews and responses it shows you really care of La Badia!

I confirm we have changed our mattresses and constantly update our rooms and services, we do have a pool and tennis court.

Luggage assistance: we normally provide it at arrival and departure, maybe because you were in a large group we didn’t dully assist all of you, it should not have happened and we apologize.

Information for future guest: upon arrival at la Badia please park your car and come at the reception leaving you baggage in the car, will send and attendant to help you .

Respectfully,

Amé Malingri

“Feels Like Home Away From Home”

My husband and I have stayed at the LaBadia Hotel 5 times. We would not consider going to Italy without stopping by for a few days. We have enjoyed it every single time. Each room we have had has been different. We take the standard room choice and have never been disappointed. Several of these times, we have traveled with others and felt that the Hotel was our own private castle!! November is not a big travel month so few people are there at that time. But, the breakfast buffet is always fresh and well stocked as though they are expecting many more people. The croissants are devine. The gentleman who runs the breakfast buffet is the same one as the first time we visited, so accommodating. The restaurant is an experience in itself. The restaurant staff this year spoke English very well which we really appreciated, although we missed the older gentleman that ran the place for several years. Thank you, LaBadia staff. We look forward to the next time.

“Worth the visit for a two day stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

A very nice and charming hotel to relax at after a hectic city trip to Rome. Also very nice to combine with a visit to Orvieto. The hotel is great and I can recommend it to everyone. It is an ideal place for just lounging about at the pool and enjoying nice food and wine.

“Beautiful hotel and setting near to Orvieto...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

This hotel is a real treat. It is a beautiful old monastry set in gorgeous grounds and the service will probably not be beaten in Orvieto (or even in central Italy). We upgraded to a deluxe room and it was incredibly spacious. The breakfast was good too.
In my opinion it is a bit pricey for what you get though. The decor in the rooms is a little dated - it does fit in with the style of the hotel however, if that is what you are looking for.
We were a little disappointed that there was not a bath in such a large room. There was no welcome pack and no tea and coffee making facilities in our room. You will need a car to travel to Orvieto as it is around 3km away and would be difficult to walk over the roads to it. La Badia is on the other side of the valley.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at La Badia and especially enjoyed being able to see the beautiful building (and spot our room) from the Duomo in Orvieto.
Go here for a special occasion and if you value service higher than location.

Dear Caroline 2006,

Thank you for your nice review, it was a pleasure to have you as our guests.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and we treasure your opinion, we didn’t know you required a bath tub, if requested we would have been more than happy to assign a room with bath tub. Subject to availability we are always happy to accommodate our guests request, La Badia rooms come equipped with either shower, bath tub or both.
As the rooms have been restored in different periods the rooms décor changes, with some rooms more traditional and some more modern. Due to the uniqueness of La Badia no two rooms are alike.
La Badia is about 3 km from the center of Orvieto, about 25 minutes’ walk, for our guests that choose to visit us without a car we can arrange taxis or private chauffeur driven cars.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce a few improvements in our services for
2012( starting from April 2012):

• We are offering In Room Spa services that will allow our guest to enjoy massages and beauty treatments in the convenience of their room .
• All rooms will have free wi-fi access as most of the common areas .
• Our Deluxe and Suite rooms will have Tea & Coffee making equipment .
• In our Deluxe and Suite rooms guest will find a welcome gift upon arrival .
• Most of our rooms will have iPhone, iPod, smart phone docking stations .
• We will expand the number of Italian and foreign TV channels available in our rooms .
• At guest disposal there will be a large and welcoming family room with large screen TV, videogames, movie selection, table and card games .
• We are establishing collaborations with the best local providers to offer our guest many extra services during their stay: private tours with English speaking driver, private guides, various interesting courses, wine tastings and wine tours, multilingual babysitting, horse riding, rafting etc.

To keep abreast with our expanding services please visit our site .
Looking forward to welcome you at La Badia .
Best Regards to all from a misty day in Orvieto!

“Beautiful location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

What a beautiful location! What a breathtaking property....so quiet, so peaceful. Provided us with a break after a hectic week of travel. We had a large room overlooking the center court yard which was very comfortable. The staff was most accommodating, and although pricey, the restaurant superb. Highly recommended....and you won't be disappointed.
