“Wonderful return visit, even better than last year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

We have just returned from another fabulous skiing holiday and our second stay at the Grien. We received a warm welcome from Rainer and Monica and renewed our acquaintance with Hassim, our friendly and speedly shuttle bus driver. The rooms were as we remembered them - a little bit dated, but exceptionally clean and comfortable. The spa facilities were very welcome after a hard day's skiing. Food, wine and service were, as ever, excellent - in fact we all commented that the quality of the cooking had, if anything, improved since our previous vist. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

“Pleasant but over estimated.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

We travelled to Ortisei for a short ski holiday. I picked the hotel from Tripadvisor.
The hotel is placed in an excellent position, high on the sunny side of the valley, with an excellent view both of the Village and of the Sasslong.
The personnel was kind and ready to help, the atmosphere friendly. We were assigned a Comfort room. The room was clean, however not the one that you would expect in a 4 start hotel: old-looking furniture, small analogue TV, uncomfortable beds.
We did not take advantage of the wellness centre, we were charged for playing billiard during one hour and for the internet connection.
The food was very good and with a good choice of different dishes.
We liked the hotel position and the people in general; we definitely did not like beds.
The hotel is not cheap for the kind of room we were given and we were surprised having been charged for few euros for the billiard and the internet connection.

“fantistic hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2010

This was my third time in Hotel Grien. Three things are really excellent: the wellness center, the food, that is like gourmet food and the general atmosphere and hospitality of the owners and all the personnel. Just two little things that could be improved: first, I would give free wi-fi internet, while now you have to pay for it; second, slipperies for the wellness are not free, you have to pay 3.5 euros. Just one comment more: we stayed there during a very low season period, if you can, this is always the best period: excellent service for cheap cost!!

“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

What makes the Hotel Grien so good is that it is overlooking the town. The views are to die for! especially when you are eating your dinner. The hotel has a shuttle service so there is no problem getting to and from the town centre. The breakfasts and dinners are outstanding and the dinner in particular is quite an occassion. I would go back in a heart beat. I chose this hotel off the tripadvisor site and I am so glad I did.

“Great Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

The hotel is spotlessly run by the Avesani Family. We stayed in the "Suite Relax" which is separated from the main building (a 20-second walk) and hence very private and quiet. The spa facilities are really very good. The service is impeccable although a bit too formal for a family run hotel. The food is just perfect. A different set of choices every night, and a fantastic list of wines to go with it. I would encourage anyone to get some wine suggestions from Monika as she really seems to know the stuff. The location is a bit far from the town centre, but the hotel mini bus service was always at out disposal and we never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for it. In conclusion a great hotel that I would recommend to couples or families. RC - London
