“We liked it so much we have booked for next year!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

Others have extolled the virtues of the hotel and spa, it is indeed lovely. After a day of skiing followed by a swim in the salt pool and then relaxing in the Panorama sauna by a flickering fire fire watching the mounains turn pink at sunset, what more could you ask?
The only niggle is the system of vouchers for bath robes and pool towels, very fiddly when you arrive, why don't they simply put them in the bedrooms. Do they have a problem with them being pinched? Nonetheless we are returning in 2012, and it would seem so do lots of other guests.Ciao, see you next year!

“Great hotel, some minor niggles denying an excellent rating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

Lovely staff, superb food at dinner time and excellent wait-staff.
Food much improved. Diverse menu, offered in English.

Very homely feel to hotel, feels like staying in a luxurious mansion where everything is done for you.

Love the afternoon snack, with free baguette, cheese, ham, strudel and cake. Even a hot disk on some days.

Some minor niggles include at breakfast, a chef puts out omelettes on a supposed hot plate to help yourself to, but these are invariably stone cold.
The cleaner of our room never topped up the shampoo supply, I had to walk to front desk and ask for them.

The pools are simply heavenly. You can get fresh towels on demand throughout the day.

“Great even for non-skier”

We flew into Milan and hired a private transfer (from Taxi Kostner ) to bring us directly to Ortisei. Driver speaks English & was a very careful driver. Took us appx 4 hours to arrive at the hotel.

There were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children and we were given a superior single room and a family suite.. Let's start with the superior single room. It is essentially a room with a Queen size bed with the usual mod con. bathroom is very big in proportion to the size of room. The other room is family suite, but I'll probably call it a 2 bedroom. When you enter the room, there's a dinning area for 6 person, a TV with a sofa bed (big enough for 2 adults), first bedroom is another double bed but without TV and the 2nd bedroom is slightly bigger in size with double bed with TV and balcony. The only negative review I have of the room is that there is only one bathroom. Honestly the family suite is big enough to accommodate all of us but it is against the hotel policy and we were glad that we have booked two rooms as we have 2 bathroom to share amongst ourselves.

I will not talk about the rest of the hotel as most reviewers have already mentioned. I will share informations that I found lacking in other reviews to help.

For someone not familiar with the whole ski resort, I think Ortisei is really a very great base. The moment we started to drive up the mountain, we were awed by the design of the houses. They are all so beautiful. Generally most hotels around the Adler are all close by. You will walk around somehow and after 4 days, I found this village to be very lovely. People are the friendliest we have seen in Italy, but lesser English speaker, but hey, we managed so there shouldn't be too much problem (by the way, we seems to be the only Asian around). There are many shops around the square, from cafes, restaurant, ski & bob rental, fashion, etc, everything you'll need. There are 2 Asian restaurants within 10 to 15 minutes walk. The ski lift is just opposite the hotel, maybe a 5 minutes walk away.

Pool is great not not children friendly. Spa is ok, but because I came from Asia and spa and massage is plenty and reasonably priced, I didn't spend too much time in it after one try as I find it too clinical and lacking in ambience compared to Asian spa. Most staff in the hotel speaks English and were helpful with the kids. Wired internet available in room and need to ask reception counter for password.

Food is fine, breakfast is good with coffee & tea, juices, yoghurt etc. Breakfast & dinner were included in our package, and can be served in room for 10 EUR extra. Mineral water is chargeable at 4.50 EUR.

We took a bus from the square to Bolzano for the Christmas market and we all enjoyed it very much (take the Bolzano direct bus to avoid a long journey. One bus an hour so ask at the reception counter for the time). Ticket can be bought in bus. Return is easy too, just go to the bus terminal or at the bus stop right in front of the train station.

Overall, will I travel 20 hours from Singapore to come to this place again, the answer is yes.

“Superb hotel in the Dolomites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

We, a family of 3 incl. a child of 11 yrs old, stayed a week in October to enjoy autumn in the Dolomites. This was about the fourth time we have been at Hotel Adler. We had chosen a 'family hit week'
In one word: Superb. Everything is great about the place:
Location: in Ortisei, a lovely village with excellent hiking possibilities in the surrounding mountains.
Hotel: Very good selection of room types. We had a Family Junior Suite. Spacey, nicely refurbished.
Service: Outstanding at all places of the hotel. Only Bar service at the pools and sauna is missing :)
Food: Excellent 7+ course diner each evening. A pleasure each evening. Combination of light Italian cuisine combined with Tiroler tasty specialties. Best is: The Tiramisu. Divine. Disadvantage is that you will never like it anywhere else....
Wines: Great selection of local wines. Especially the Lagreins and Blauburgunders were great. Good value for money too: good wines for 25-25 Euro per bottle.
Pools: Great, even for someone like me who hates public swimming pools. Somehow there was always plenty of space in the pools; never too crowded.
Sauna landscape: One of the best ever seen. Good selection of sauna's and baths. Very clean, looking great.
Gym: Good range of possibilities to do a work out., The only thing that I missed where some spinning bikes.
Things to do: anything you can wish for. Every day there are two guided walks an easy one and a more challenging one, biking, climbing, Bolzano at 45 min drive, etc..
We hope to be back....

“Adler in Ortisei every inch perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

After many years we were there for the plm 7the time. Conclusion: just as good as it ever was. Close to perfection in housing, food, service, and generally in good taste. The wellness part is and outstanding and in hotelbusiness nearly to be beaten facility. Every day guided trips (included) in the Dolomites, after that wonderful sauna, "Blutendampf" bath, and swimming in the inside and outside (34 C) swimming pools. Hotel in the centre of the happy atmosphere village of Ortisei/Sankt Ulrich with bars and cafe's nearby.
