“Very bad service”

We ordered 1 week in Hotel Panoramic. But when we came we were met with very bad service. We didnt get the room we had ordered, we didnt get internet - because we had the wrong room?? (whitch they gave us). The Hotel had a wireless internet, but they wouldn give us access because of security?? Very very strange...
Hotel is called Panoramic - but we would rather call it "Forrest Gump" - We didnt see anything buth threes...
It is to far and dangerous to walk to the city, because there is no pavement to walk on.
The breakfast was bad - no warm food, only a lot of different cakes.
The room they gave us was not nice at all - we didnt want to stay there very long.. We checked out the day after. They didnt ask why we wanted to check out - 6 days before.. They didnt say, thank you - or good bye..
This was realy a bad experience - but we were lucky to find a very nice Hotel in Montepulciano, we got a tip from the touristinformation. Our last 6 days was good :)

“so bad its almost good....”

this is a hotel that is strange beyond words. First, as others have said, its a good bit out of town. That didnt bother us as we had a car. However, the entrance to it is up what seems like a farm track, with the decaying remnants of a disco? midway along.
The hotel is carefully situated so that you really have no views from the hotel Good view of the trees from the carpark , but nothing else.
On arrival, despite showing the printout of the booking, the pretty gormless chap populating the lobby coulnt give us a double room. he gave us a single room, which was the smallest room I have ever been in. The bathroom was so small that sitting on the pan ones knees were elevated , the shower was a drain to the floor, and the room stifling. We did get that night free....woohoo.. We were tired so stuck the room out that night, but boy....
The other room for the other two nights was fine, pretty basic. The decor of the hotel is mid 1973, I almost expected to see benny hill running around or Slade to start playing in the lobby.
Breakfast was dire - slimcea type bread, ghastly coffee, very little fresh fruit, and a staff that clearly could care less. Getting a coffee or a drink in the bar was a major ordeal.
There is a nice pool.
Overall the hotel is AVOID

“Time Warp Hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2008

Woe betide anyone that gets their own taxi to the hotel. The first encounter with anyone at the hotel was not "Hello" or even "Welcome to vthe Panoramic". It was, "Why have you taken your own taxi here? I do the transfers here. I'll transer you to Montepulciano for 5 Euro tonight." just like that, we were chastised in reception like a pair of naughty kids!
We checked in, went up to our room (still angry from our welcome) and despite the breathtaking views of the Tuscan hills from the balcony, we decided against staying the full 3 nights and amended our booking to just one. This was just based on the awful reception and overwhelming feeling we were putting people out just by being there.
The decor is what we decided was 1970's Eastern European chic. The room we had was huge, in fact so big they put a metal, prison style bunk bed in there too, for good measure.
We took our host up on his 5 Euro ride into Montepulciano (takes about 10 mins although he cunningly failed to mention that there's a regular bus for next to nothing) and as he deposited us he warned us to be ready to be collected at 6:45 because he has to be at work for 7pm. As it was already 5pm we had to argue the toss for some time and stand firm that we wanted to dine in Montepulciano itself until he gave in and huffily conceeded that we'd have to struggle to get a taxi back for ourselves.
The town itself is amazing, beautiful, breathtaking. There's wine and cheese to be sampled for free at almost ever shop and there's beautiful side streets and glimpses of the faraway rows of Cypress trees on the surrounding hills. Wear stout shoes because the streets have a wicked incline at places, but do make the effort to find the main piazza and light a candle in it's church.
We got a taxi back to the hotel later on (the number was written on a bin outside the tourist info office) and was quizzed about our evening out upon our return.
We slept soundly (the silence at night is lovely) and the bathroom was clean, fresh and the shower enjoyable.
To be honest, given the chance again, I would've liked to have stayed in Montepulciano itself. The hotel felt too isolated, and even though the decor style was almost comical, the whole hotel was thoroughly clean and fresh.
