“Utter Perfection - a Tuscan dream!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2008

This is my husband and my second stay at L'Olmo. We stayed at L'Olmo about five years ago and I actually loved it more this time, which I really did not think was possible. It is absolutely serene, romantic, and elegant. The location is perfect - between Montalcino and Montepulciano (2 excellent wine towns). When my luggage went missing for 6 days, the owner even lent me a wrap for the evenings so that I wouldn't freeze with the limited clothes I initally had. L'Olmo has the warmth of a b&b but the setting is something like a country villa. It really is my idea of heaven on earth. We will be back!!

“close to perfect”

it's been our second stay at l'olmo. one of my professors at insead said years ago "100% satisfaction you can only achieve through surprise". voila : l'olmo.
perfectly calm, great staff, great environment, one sunbed per person (never more than 50% occupied), views to dream, and friendly, helpful hosts.
6 years ago they surprised us with taking over the bill in a restaurant which they recommended, and when they saw we had to wait over 1 h for our table felt bad. when we finished dinner and wanted to pay - iot was taken care of. this time they called the restaurant we had dinner on the last of 7 nights, and when we wanted to pay the wine was already on l'olmo - despite knowing after daily discussions we are not really saving on wines. so what to complain about? maybe the beds a bit soft, but thats us, loving hard beds. or the fact that breakfast is somewhat simple - non of my biggest worries.
for me l'olmo is in my top 5 worldwide hotels,

“True Tuscan Elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2007

L'Olmo is the best example of an elegant Tuscan inn around. Only 7 rooms, all tastefully appointed and meticulously maintained. Gorgeous views from every angle of what you picture as the typical Tuscan landscape.

We used this location in SW Tuscany to explore many walled hill towns such as Montichiello, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino (make sure to visit Fattoria dei Barbi and the Abbey Sant' Antimo) and Bagno Vignoni.

Service was helpful, friendly and proffesional. I can see why many guests return again and again.

“a beautiful hidden gem”

My husband and I have stayed at the l'Olmo about eight times over the last 10 years or so and is our all time favorite Italian Hotel.
The owners are charming, friendly and welcoming, the rooms are all immaculately presented with a touch of luxury. The views are spectacular and the location could not be improved, with Pienza, Montelpuciano, Bagno Vignoni and Quercia D'orcia being just some of the wonderful tuscany towns on your doorstep.
With all the rooms being appointed to a very high standard, this is no ordinary Bed and Breakfast , its a small luxury family run hotel.
Breakfasts are excellent, start the day with one of their cappuccinos, home made cakes and delicious pastries and if you book one of their special garden suites, the experience of taking breakfast on your own private terrace can not be beaten. A table is laid out with frette linen, beautiful white china and silver cutlery. The views of the countryside lit up by the morning sun are breathtaking and enjoyed so much more on the privacy of your own terrace. Lunch is served under their shaded gazebo overlooking the beautiful swimming pool and excellent light meals are available throughout the day until 10.00pm.
There are many restaurants in the area, but our all time favorite has to be La Grotta on the outskirts of Montelpuciano overlooking the wonderful San Bagio Church.
If you are looking for an excellent small luxury hotel in the heart of the Val D'orcia valley, full of romance and scenic beauty, this the hotel for you.

“The ideal Tuscan inn”

After staying here on 3 different occasions, I can say that it doesn't get any better. L'Olmo is as perfect a Tuscan inn as can be found and the experience is as close as a visitor can come to living in Tuscany. Set amid flowers in the fields and rolling hills of southern Tuscany you can visit the most authentic and beautiful hilltowns, Pienza, Montepulciano, Monticchiello, Montalcino, and still return every night to a good bed, a swim in the pool and genuine hospitality. At night, only the crickets chirping to lull you to sleep. Absolute heaven!
