Location:
The hotel is located inside the walls of Montepulciano, about a 2 minute walk from the main square. It is a great location for exploring the city and the Tuscan countryside. There is parking available free of charge.
Hotel Description:
This is a small hotel above the restaurant. There is a small lobby, but it is generally unattended. For any assistance, you are directed to the restaurant staff.
Room Description:
We had a great room! We had a double room with private bathroom and shower. It was a sort of mini-suite. The entry had a small couch and table and the bed was separated by a partial wall. It was a large room. There was a TV and DVD player...but who watches TV while visiting Italy! The room was very clean and there were no issues.
Breakfast/meals:
The breakfast was not included in our room rate. It was only 5 euros each and was worth it. There were breads, pastries and rolls, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, coffee, juice and even pie!
We also had dinner in the restaurant and it was nice. We had lasagne and pizza. The lasagne was good, but not outstanding. The pizza was however one of the better ones we had in Italy. Great crust and sauce, highly recommended.
Service/staff:
We arrived to check-in at approximately 5:00pm. However, there was nobody at the hotel or the restaurant; simply a sign on the door with instructions to call the provided number for check-in assistance. Apparently the restaurant (and check-in) is open after 6:00pm. We called the number and within 15 minutes a staff person arrived to complete our check-in. He was apologetic and we could tell he was doing his best. With his broken English and my few Italian words, we managed! Not a big deal, but it would have been preferable to know about the 6pm arrival time of staff.
The restaurant staff was very nice and we had nice meals there.
Overall:
This was one of the nicer rooms we have had while travelling in Europe. Great location as well. We were very pleased with our stay, and wished we could have spent another night there.
