Our stay was for 5 days with an organised group who were in Tuscany for wine tasting and general tourism. Our arrival process was well organised by the hotel and we were in the rooms within 10 minutes. The lift was the limiting factor as only 4 people could get in at a time. Stairs were available of course and you could have your luggage delivered a little later.
The rooms were spacious and clean with large Kingsize plus beds. Air conditioning, a mini bar, TV and safe were provided. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. The TV received BBC world programmes.
We were half board in the hotel and I can recommend this option for others. Breakfast was Continental with fresh fruit, cold meats, bread, boil your own eggs, cereals, yoghurts, tea, coffee, etc. Dinner in the evening was a feast every day. Five courses over about 1 1/2 to two hours consisted of soup, a pasta course, help yourself salad, main course and desert. The food was excellend and extremely tasty. A good range wine was also available.
The hotel has a swimming pool that was used daily and kept very presentable. It was a nice place to sit by after dinner and allowed smokers to relax with a drink and chat. A bar was available until late into the evening. I was normally in bed by 1100 so didn't get to see if it stayed open later than that.
For touring, the hotel is close to the fernicula railway that takes you up to the beautiful village of Montecatini Alto. It is also easy to walk down through the park into the main town and spas of Montecatini Terme. It is a good uphill walk from the town on the way back.
The railway station at Montecatini Terme has regular trains at reasonable prices. We went into Florence for the day. The journey took just over an hour and was not too expensive at all.
The Euro exchange rate made food and drink a little expensive but that probably down to UK keeping the value of the pound low to improve exports.
Room Tip: The lift can get conjested at times. Being close to the ground floor could save you some time.
