“Friendly little hotel, great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

I stayed here with my mum on the Mistral Taste of Tuscany tour and had a pleasant stay. The hotel is a little dated in comparison to a lot of the hotels in the area but was spotlessly clean and I found the staff very friendly and efficient. It is in a good location, in a quiet side street near the park but only a few minutes walk to the centre.
I thought the quality of food was fine compared to other package holiday hotels (basic but tasty) and there were two choices of starters and two choices of a main course each evening, followed by very a nice dessert each night.
Should I ever return to Montecatini Terme (which I hope I will one day!) I would be happy to stay here again.

“Hotel De La VILE!”

We stayed at this Hotel on a package tour. Although the Hotel was clean and tidy, the whole Hotel was in need of modernisation, especially the Restaurant and the Swimming Pool.

The Food served to us was disgusting and the Restaurant was very understaffed.
We were served the same meat course for 4 consecutive nights with no choice of vegetables - the vegetables that were served were a sloppy and unappetising.
An example of this, we were offered a Salad which consisted of wilted Lettuce leaves and nothing else! Served after the main course and dumped on our used main course plates!

The sweets were no better and on one occasion, we were given cheap jam Swiss Roll, served with Custard - only to find we had to eat it with a fork as the Hotel was devoid of desert spoons!

At Breakfast we were offered Out-of-Date Yoghurt's and some members of our party took it upon themselves to purchase their own Breakfast food items as an alternative.

All in all, we were extremely disappointed and angered at the level of service provided by this Hotel and would certainly never recommend this Hotel to anyone!

“Lovely area - Hotel Lets It Down.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

Stayed at this hotel as part of a Mistral Tour to Tuscany. This was our base hotel for the excursions. I've been to Montecatini Terme several times before and stayed in various hotels in the area of the Hotel De La Ville so thought that this would be of a similar standard. How wrong I was.

The hotel is in an ideal location in a side street only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town / spa's / restaurants and the park. The hotel was clean and tidy but is in obvious need of modernisation. Staff were friendly enough although there was a distinct lack of them and they appeared to struggle at times to meet demands of their paying guests - particulary at meal times.

The bedrooms are basic and the bathrooms lack any electrical points for shavers / hairdyers etc. Clean towels were provided every day though.

Stairs were not adequately lit and several carpet runners were loose allowing the carpets to slip when walking on them.

There are 2 small lifts within this hotel but one of them broke down during our stay. Don't know if its been repaired yet.

The hotel is advertised as having a swimming pool - it is located at the rear of the dining rooms and I wouldn't advise using it. The pool surround is cracked and broken in places and weeds were growing through these. Plants and bushes surrounding the pool were overgrown.

The main problem with this hotel though is the basic and bland food being served. Choice of vegetable soup or tasteless pasta with a tomato or garlic sauce for starters and then pork / veal with small amount of vegetables for main courses followed by a slice of jam roll and custard (if you were lucky) for dessert. Even complaining to the staff and the tour guide made no difference. Fortunately there are a number of good quality restaurants nearby which offer far superior meals at reasonable cost.

I would highly recommend visiting the Montecatini Terme area but steer clear of this hotel as it will only ruin a perfectly good holiday
