“Gorgeous accommodation a short trip from Venice and away from it all”

We were thoroughly impressed by this property and the value for money. We booked online and found that even the beautiful shots on this hotel's web page did not do justice to the feeling on arrival: the sweet odour of roses and other flowers in the air, the peaceful ambience and the grand entry. This despite a large wedding reception occurring at the same time!

Hotel staff were polite, professional and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, as was dinner in the restaurant. We will be sure to return!

“Amazing break away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We arrived at Hotel Villa Condulmer relatively late, and even though it was dark the hotel was stunning! We booked our trip through expedia and for the price, got an amazing deal. We were in the Barchessa rooms, which were lovely. The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful, whether it was the staff by the pool or the staff in the lobby.
The hotel is set in magnificent grounds and has the most amazing pool- We spent most days lounging by it before heading out to do some sight-seeing!
The only downside to this hotel is its location, as it is quite far out of any main towns or cities (the closest town being mogliano veneto- still very nice but rather small!). We hired a car for our stay, which is why i have still given the hotel an excellent rating, as it didn't affect our stay.
Would most definitely stay here again!

“Your own country estate for the length of your stay”

I first found this hotel 26 years ago in a michelin guide. we thought we had made a vast error - my husband kept sending me down to the main desk as he could not believe how inexpensive the hotel was.

It has been upgraded over the years - air conditioning!!!! no more huge mosquito bites.

The grounds are exceptional, the pool is a work of art, walks are a must. Stables are nearby as is a golf course.

The best for us - when we want total peace we remain on the grounds; otherwise, we drive to venice - about 20 minutes - park in the municipal lot which is monitored and spend as much time as we want on venice.

So one has the best of both worlds - peace, quiet and cleanliness and then venice.

It is a bit hard to find and one must have a car - but you will enjoy it. The building is magnificent as are the furnishings and chandeliers and staff.

Room Tip: They are all wonderful rooms - a large room in the main building is special

“Wonderful Italian Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Villa Condulmer Hotel. A fantastic small hotel, with great staff.

Our room opulent with high ceilings and gold fabric on the walls. It was located at the back of the main building. There was plenty of room (if you are taking kids, loads of room for cot not to take up all space!) The bathroom was modern and to a high standard. (Bathrobes and slippers are provided.)

The pool was a good size and child friendly. There is plenty of space that we could get away from the noise, we hardly noticed that there were at least 15 kids around the pool. We had lunch and snacks by the pool, which were promptly delivered and of a high standard at a reasonable price

The main areas of the hotel are well maintained and very clean. The outside of the hotel is looking slightly tired, but we put that down to wonderful Italian architecture!

Breakfast was the only disappointment. A simple affair of cold meats, cheese, scrambled eggs. As well as fresh fruit, beautiful pastries and breakfast cereal. We all felt that it was very disorganised on a busy Saturday morning. A number of people were hanging around the buffet table in anticipation for the next batch of food. At least the coffee was good when it arrived (if somewhat cold!) Having said all of this, the breakfast was amazing (and we could choose from the dishes) on the very quiet Monday!

The hotel was busy and full of families and couples. Many people would stay round the pool for the whole day or take a trip in to Venice. I note that another reviewer was shocked that Venice was so far away. From a map, this would have been evident.

The airport was approx 20 minutes drive in a taxi, approx 35 Euros. From the airport, you could take a water taxi into Venice. The nearest town is approx 5 minutes in a taxi cab. A few good basic restaurants available and great ice cream shop in the town centre.

I would most certainly stay again at this lovely hotel. It would be perfect for a romantic get away or a family. There is an amazing golf close very close by, which I understand the Italian Football team use!!

“Nowhere near Venice proper, staff were extremely rude”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2011

This hotel is beautiful - the main foyer is very extravagant and the communal areas have lots of antique-looking furniture, venetian chandeliers and beautiful paintings on the wall. There is even a letter with framed picture from President Reagan in the foyer, documenting an enjoyable stay he had here.

If, however, you are not a President of the USA, but are rather travelling on a budget - then perhaps you should think twice about booking this hotel. I am a budget traveller, but thought I had got myself a real bargain when booking this hotel - 5 star luxury at an affordable price, train station apparently only 2.5km away. I figured I could walk from the hotel to the train station no problem. I was wrong.

A "basic room with terrace" does have a nice terrace - but there is no furniture on the terrace so its only good if you have packed your suitcase with your own garden furniture. The bathroom is actually quite nice too (although no bathrobes!). All good - except for the actual bedroom! When they say "basic" they really do mean it - you won't see any pictures of this dungeon on their website! The bedroom I was given was definitely NOT 5 star - more like a half decent 2 star. It was depressing! Tired, old (not in a good way) furniture, extremely tatty bedclothes, dirty floor etc. Not good. I felt like a second class citizen in this hotel - the surroundings are so grand yet I was put in a dark and dingy hole of a bedroom!

Location - No way is it only 2.5km to the train station, its more like 5! If you don't have a car you will find it difficult to go anywhere!

Staff - I checked out on the same day as checking in, having realised I could not bear to spend my holiday trapped in the dungeon of my room with no hope of getting a trip to Venice...or anywhere! There is only one word for the lady on reception - vile. I was adamant that I wished to leave the hotel, and was mocked and insulted in Italian by this lady (she thought I couldn't understand, but I could and was actually reduced to tears on leaving this hotel). The hotel have attempted to say that they offered me a deluxe villa for my stay rather than the initial dungeon - this is not true. They offered me another "basic room with terrace" and no more.

So, all in all: Beautiful hotel if you can afford a half-decent room, and if you want a "getaway" - not ideal if you're on a budget and like to do a bit more than lounge around on holiday...there's nowhere to go within walking distance!
