If you’re looking for a cheap alternative to staying in Venice, this is pretty far out. It’s unlike Venice in many ways…not romantic in the slightest, being situated smack bang in the middle of a parking lot for a service station! Outside your room you will enjoy views of concrete. It's really in the middle of nowhere.

• The food is the worst I experienced whilst in Italy, awfully stale and tasteless, rolls harder than rocks but you have no choice because there aren’t any restaurants or café’s in the vicinity. So you will feel very distant from the culinary delights of Venice!

• The rooms themselves are fine though, they’re clean and decently sized. Our AC didn’t work on our last day which was a problem as it was over 30 degrees (Celsuis).

• The staff don’t add to the already unpleasant atmosphere and I can’t say we were impressed by their services or attitude, but as previously noted a lot of them don’t speak English so this could have contributed to that general impression.

I would only recommend this place if you’re reeeaaalllllly desperate for accommodation and everything else is booked out, but surely you can find something better than Air Motel.

The rooms are average, reasonably clean and what you would expect for budget accomodation.

However, the facitilies for each room vary from floor to floor - ask for a room on the second floor if you would like to have access to English TV.

Additionally, while the manager is helpful and friendly, some of the night staff are rude and unhelpful - it may be the language barrier, or it may just be how they are.

This hotel was below our expectaions even compared to other hotels we stayed in around Europe. The tile floor was stickywith an unknown substance. The bathroom was in need of a serious deep cleaning. The thermostat was broken leaving our room just above freezing all night.

I was doing a road trip around Western Europe and arrived in the Venice area late, needing a place to stay. I didn't want to stay in the city itself, so I headed towards the airport area (about 5-10 kms from the city, in Mestre). I tried at a trusted chain (Novotel), who was booked solid (and sort of expensive anyway), and they mentioned that their neighbor (AirMotel) had vacancies. First of all, this was one of the nicest and cheapest hotels I have stayed in throughout my journey (France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy). Prices for a double room w/ two beds ran me $75 Euros. The room was extremely spacious! Also, it was very no frills ... not a lot of amenities. However, Mario (the manager) was very friendly, and we were happy for our find. The sleep was very comfortable, the shower nice, and the service excellent. They even have blackout shades (not the curtains that still leak light) for each room.

If I ever return to Venice (too many beggars, gypsies, and odd smells), I will definitely be returning to the AirMotel!
