I stayed here for just one night and had the worst experience in all my years of travelling all over the world and staying in a wide range of hotels.
We were a group of 14 persons and had arrived just that day in Venice after a long flight from India. At the time of check-in at around 2.30 pm, my laptop bag went missing right in front of the reception. I had just a few minutes ago, taken out my iPad for checking the Wifi at the lobby and kept it back. Within 15 minutes, the bag was gone, with that iPad and my 600D Canon DSLR, among other things. Worst was to follow !
As soon as I brought this to the notice of the receptionist (Angelio), his first reaction was "we are not responsible for any loss, please go to police". The lobby area is under CCTV surveillance. When we requested him to allow us to take a look at the recording, he replied with "We can do that only with the order of the police". After pleading for some time, we were told that the security supervisor will take a look at the recording and see if they can help us. We were never taken to the security guy, so he had no way to know that it was MY bag that was stolen (amongst the 14 of us). After about 30 mins, I was summarily told that the security supervisor could not find anything wrong and that we should go to the police. The address of the local police station was written on a piece of paper and I was told to find my way to the police station and lodge a complaint.
The non-cooperation of the police is at the Mestre Commisiorate is another matter. We were to check out the next day early. No one from the hotel management bothered to even see me in spite of my requests, leave alone enquire about my loss. I deposited a written complaint on my check out, but never received any response to that also.
Such complete non-chalance and non-cooperation with a hotel guest was shocking to say the least!!! I will not even advice my enemy to stay in this hotel.
