“Romantic and rejuvenating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. The room and our patio had a beautiful view of the ocean. The manager, Michelle, was outstanding! He went far beyond the call of duty to make our stay comfortable and fun. The whole staff was excellent. The beaches nearby (a five minute car ride) with the white cliffs were amazing! Also, there are steps that go directly down to the ocean right at Villa Scapone.
The restaurant is good, and we ate there several times. Good fresh seafood. The breakfast buffet is substantial, and designed with tourists in mind. If you want to sight see, visit Vieste, a beautiful town only 30 minutes away.
Villa Scapone is a great place to relax and rejuvenate. Very romantic.

“Had a great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2011

We loved our 4-day stay at Villa Scapone. It's a comfortable hotel with very friendly, helpful service and a good restaurant with an excellent wine list, especially its extensive selection of wines from Puglia. We loved the views of the sea from our room and from our table every evening, the double hammock on our patio, and the opportunity to walk down the steep steps to jump in the Adriatic. As other reviewers have reported, the hotel helped us with a half-day boat rental that was great fun. Gargano coastal scenery is spectacular, and easy to enjoy at Villa Scapone, perched on a seaside cliff. We definitely will come back.

“4 nights in paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

My new husband and I stayed at Villa Scapone half way through our honeymoon, in May 2011. It was perfect. We had spent the first part of our honeymoon seeing a lot of lovely sites, but Villa Scapone was the ideal place to stop, rest and rejuvinate.

Three main things are stand-outs at Villa Scapone: the staff, the food and the rooms / location. The staff were wonderful. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, without being intrusive, and nothing was too much difficulty... including silver service lunch by the pool! The concierge, Michaele, in particular was brilliant, making a particular effort to ensure that everything was perfect for us. Including finding us a stunning balcony seat and taking care of a 4 course meal (which was incredible), notwithstanding 5 communions had run overtime and were continuing around him!

I had heard that food in Puglia was exception, and this was certainly the case at Villa Scapone. The 4 course meals was just the beginning. The seafood is very tasty and fresh, with the lasagnette a dish that we have remembered and talked about throughout the trip and since returning home. The breakfasts were a buffett with great variety, and lunch by the pool was very indulgent.

Finally, the location and rooms are brilliant. Michaele gave us the "penthouse" (Room 10), up the top of some stairs, which had incredible views of the sea, cliffs and hotel pool from our huge balcony (complete with double-person hammock, day beds, and tables and chairs). I took full advantage of the bath and we spent most days by (and in!) the pool, looking out over the ocean. I am informed that the Villa is also currently building a full service Day Spa, which would add to the perfection! (Don't worry, there were no noisy building works to content with.) The Villa is a short drive from a pretty beach, but you can also swim off the rocks at the base of the hotel, and the stairs to get there are a very good way to burn off some of that yummy food which is impossible to resist!

While we spent our days relaxing and unwinding, there seems to be quite a bit to do along the coast as well. We did pop into Vieste, which was a lovely town, although I was happy to be staying somewhere quiet at that stage of our trip! There are also beaches and other towns nearby.

All in all, Villa Scapone was wonderful... so wonderful that we arrived booked to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 4 nights, it was too good to leave! We would most certainly go back and recommend it to others.

“Nice hotel with... works!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

Nice hotel in a splendid location, above the sea, quiet place if not considering works that were undertaken in the hotel while guests were staying there! On the 2nd day (we stayed a whole week there) in the morning we got awaken by a drilling hammer! The worse was not the works themselves but the way the lady at the entrance desk treated our complaint: she started by saying there were no works (!) and that even in another room guests may hear the desk's phone ringing... She took us for fools and was so unfriendly, but we finally agreed to be moved to another room (that wasn't clean by the way).
We had diner there every night, the food was ok but not great for Italy and the service reduced to minimum (not kind at all). Breakfast buffet was mediocre.
The Jacuzzi was not working and looked neglected.

“A magical place on the Gargano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Visited this place in August for a 5 night stay with my 8 year old son. Everything was perfect! It is truly a stunning location. The staff was very nice and the food was very good, as we took half board package. There is a beach 200 m away, but there was no need to leave as we spent our time around the pool. We also took the 200 steps down from the pool to the Adriatic and floated around. The hotel arranged a boat for us to tour the sea caves and that was a very nice excursion. I would definitely stay here again!
