“Pleasant experience, except the insects”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The hotel was clean and well maintained. The only major issue was that huge insects were coming out from the air conditionning vent in our room. We even found those same insects in the staircase area which is unacceptable. I think the hotel needs a good insect cleaner. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent and the staff at the hotell were really kind and helpful.

“Dishonest cheating desk clerk”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

This year Florence and Venice imposed a hotel tax on tourists which they collect when you check in. When we checked into the Palladio, the man at the desk told us we had to pay the Venice tax of 5 Euros per night, per person, times 8 nights. This was a total of 80 Euros. I told him I knew the tax did not extend to Mestre, Marghera or Malcontenta which is where the Palladio Hotel is. He told me if I wanted to stay there, I had to pay it. I had already pre-paid for 8 nights in advance and the money would not be refundable, so I gave him the 80 Euros (Which is about $120.00 dollars.) During our 9 day stay in the area, I checked at other hotels in Mestre, Marghera, and Malcontenta. They all said the tax does not apply outside the city limits of Venice which is an entirely separate city. The man at the hotel is dishonest and a cheater. There is a younger man and two young ladies that work at the desk. Beware of the older heavy balding guy, he is not honest or honorable. He is also very badly tempered and when you ask for advice on bus routes or restaurants, he acts annoyed and impatient

“Terrible stay in the Palladio”

We spent one night in this hotel before we joined a cruise from Venice and a further two nights at the end of the cruise. The room we were in on the first night, whilst far from being luxurious, appeared relatively clean, but when I woke next morning I discovered that I had been very badly bitten. I'm not sure whether this was by bed bugs or mosquitos. The bites were so bad that I had to receive medical treatment during the cruise. On our second stay in the hotel after the cruise I woke during the night to discover a large beetle in my bed. On reflection, I realise we should have kept it and complained to the management in the morning, but I freaked and my husband was just concerned with getting rid of it. Before getting into bed on the second night I shook all the bedding carefully to make sure I had no beetles sharing my bed. However, in the morning my husband again found a beetle in the bed which he managed to dispose of before I saw it. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. Apart from the bugs and beetles, the carpets were not too clean, and the breakfast was very minimal. The hotel is situated about 35 minutes by bus from Venice. The good thing is that the bus stops right at the door, but the buses are always crowded and you have to stand for the whole journey. The hotel has a shuttle bus service which goes into Venice 4 times during the morning. This, however, can only take 8 people and you have to book it at 7.00 a.m. on the morning you want to use it which means setting your alarm.

Room Tip: The only tip I can give is to make sure you get a room without bugs or beetles in it!!

“The worst hotel in the world!”

My family and I all went to Venice and we wanted somewhere cheaper and out of town. The best we could come up with was this hole, with prostitutes on every corner and a funfair bursting out dance music till three AM. The worst place I have ever been to and we won't be coming back.

“Absolutely the best hotel near Venice!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We spent in Palladio 4 days and they were really wonderful!!!!!!
The hotel is situated not far away from Venice: it takes 15-20 minutes in bus to get to piazzale Roma: regional buses go once an hour (you can fint their schedule in the hotel and at the bus stop). You can also book a transfer at the reception, but unfortunately they offer this transfer only 4-5 times a day and only in the morning.
Near the hotel there is a lovely pizzeria, maybe one of the best in Venice (and rather cheap, too).
The staff was very helpful, they speak both italian and english, our room was very big, aircondition worked excellent, and so did tv. The only thing we didn't like is that wi-fi is not for free, but for us it wasn't very important because it is good to have rest from the Intenet during the vacation!!!
