We loved this hotel, which we chose after much trawling through many reviews of the hundreds of hotels in this area. We were not at all disappointed and although we had booked late were delighted to have a room on the first floor where we could take in the fabulous view. The majority of the rooms face south so you can enjoy the sunshine most of the day. We really think this hotel is in the very best situation on Lake Garda. Near enough Malchesine for its' attactions but far enough away to be very peaceful. The little kitchen area in the room was very useful, we had a meal at home one night to alleviate the prices of eating out. Great too to make a cup of tea first thing and a coffee to have on the balcony before bed. We found the bed quite firm and the pillows too, if you prefer a softer pillow maybe take your own. Exceptionally clean everywhere in the hotel, beds changed every 2 days and towels as you required them. Towels for the poolside supplied at reception. Pool was quite cold but very refeshing. We swam in the lake which was about the same temperature. Take your swim shoes for this as the 'beach' is pebbles and sore on the feet until you get deep enough to swim. Breakfast was fantastic with lovely fresh bread, lots of cereals, fresh fruit including exotics like pineapple and figs, eggs, cheese, cold meat, cheese, yoghurt, cake etc, etc. We didn't need any lunch as the breakfast was so satisfying. To walk to Malcesine turn right out of the hotel and up the hill to the main road. Turn left between Jolly Discount and the hospital down the road called Lungolago, this takes you to the promenade into town. About 30 mins walk, admiring the lovely views of the lake and the castle. Our favourite restaurant in Malchesine was Porte Vecchio. In the opposite direction from the hotel again along the promenade towards Cassone there is a super restaurant called Al Vagaor, situated right on the lakeside just by the little statue. Not a pretentious place but the food is fab. The pizzas are huge and every combination under the sun. We went there twice and it was not as expensive as some of the other restaurants we visited. We had a hire car and used it a lot to get about. The hotel has ample underground parking facilities. Maybe worth noting that in 8 days spent here we were the only engish speakers, lots of germans and italians but everyone was very pleasant and friendly. In fact one german couple told us they had been to Hotel Spiaggia every year for the past 25! The reception staff all spoke excellent english so no worries about making your needs known. All in all we had an excellent holiday at this hotel and would not hesitate in recommending it.
