I had a single room, fairly small and quite dark but very clean and suited my needs. Quite a narrow bed but very comfortable. I thought the hotel exceeded my expectations of what a 2 star hotel would be like in many ways. The cleanliness, the lovely view of the lake from the terrace (and my room!) and even the breakfast although basic was very good. One very little gripe...On departure day my flight required pick up from hotel at 6.40am, there was no provision for any breakfast which was alittle disappointing. This aside I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I have stayed here on 4 separate occasions over the last 8 years as it is quite the most perfectly situated hotel on Lake Garda. Right at the waters edge with stupendous views, especially if you are lucky enough to get a lake view balcony room at the back. Unfortunately we failed to do so because of a travel agents mistake. but the view is still available from the decked sun terrace.

Since our last visit the hotel has been completely redecorated and provides basic but scrupulously clean accommodation. The bathrooms are small and weirdly laid out and take some getting used to. It is the only place I have been where it was possible to use the shower, toilet and bidet at the same time without moving ones feet.

Breakfasts are very basic continental, bread butter, cheese, ham and jam. One cereal and serve yourself. They do become somewhat monotonous but that is not why we were in Italy, and you can always go out to any one of dozens of other places.

Service could be described as unobtrusive ( or totally lacking if one were uncharitable) but whenever we needed help we did get it after searching for it.

As a base for exploring this fabulous area it is hard to beat, but it is perhaps best to look on the Sirena as a well positioned sleeping and private resting place than a full service hotel. If you intend spending your time out exploring this wonderful area this is a fantastic base and a quiteish oasis from the bustle of the streets. One word of warning, a street room is noisy from early in the morning - street cleaning starts around 6am and if you can sleep through that the church bell will wake you at eight.

I stayed in Room 18, the single room, at The Sirena, and having read previous reviews, I was prepared to go in fighting to get a better room. However I was pleasantly surprised. The room was light and airy, with a decent size shower room, and yes it was a single room, but plenty big enough for me. How much time do you spend in your room anyway?!
The owners were friendly, the decking superb, and the snacks and drinks cheaper than anywhere else we went. Also we found the restaurant next door to serve the best food of all the restaurants we visited in Malcesine. Close to the centre and harbour of Malcesine so really convenient for all the bars/restaurants, yet the only noise was the lapping of the water.

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Sirena and found it an absolutely fabulous experience. The hotel proved to be a great find and was all we had hoped for and more. The family who run the hotel and their staff were charming, very helpful and really added to the holiday.
The hotel is modern, bright and very clean; whilst the rooms aren't huge they are perfectly adequate. The location is just perfect and, as other people have commented, the decking area is a great spot for relaxing during the day and evenings.
We would certainly recommend Malcesine as an excellent base with lots of good lakeside restaurants, plus street entertainment etc and the Sirena is perfect for anyone looking for a friendly, family run hotel from which to enjoy all that Lake Garda has to offer.
