Superbly located in centre of the town, 1 min from cable car/tourist bus and 3 mins from old town, waterfront and restaurants. Nice garden to relax in, our balcony (double room #4) had a view of the castle and the mountains East and West. Simple rooms and breakfast. We would definitely go back.

I booked this hotel after reading all the reviews on here and I have to agree with most of what is written here. It is a great location at the bottom of Mount Baldo, just a couple of minutes to the town centre, lake and the beautiful castle, plus the tourist information centre is just around the corner with the bus stop directly opposite.

As previously mentioned here (I really should have taken a bit more notice), this hotel does only accept cash or travellers cheques, even though several other sites say that that they accept all major credit cards. They only accept a credit card as a holding deposit for the booking, luckily for me there was a cash point literally around the corner from the hotel.

Again as mentioned on this site, the hotel is extremely clean, the breakfast is more then adequate and the young guy who served at breakfast was really helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is basic, but more then sufficient for travellers, it has a wonderful garden, sauna, jacuzzi and a garage should you need it.

I stayed here the last week of October and luckily for me the weather was great. One thing to note about Malcesine is that organised tours to Venice, Verona and most of the boat trips around the lakes finish at the end of September, (though there were still a few running at the end of October) something I was not made aware of and neither were several other people who were staying at other locations in Malcesine. Luckily for me it was not a problem, I took a train to Venice and Verona is only bus ride away.

Malcesine is only about 2-3 hours drive away from Germany therefore the majority of tourists here are German. Finally, this hotel allows dogs to stay with their owners if you are ok with this then this hotel will work out fine for you.

After reading the reviews, my husband & I didn't hesitate to book this hotel and it lived up to all the expectations on previous reviews. Perfectly located in a reasonably quiet location but short walking distance from the centre of Malcesine and a stone's throw from the cable car. The hospitality was warm & genuine and the rooms were light, airy and comfortable. Every room has a balcony with 2 comfy reclining chairs - my husband requested a quiet room on a high floor and this is exactly what we got. Our room (15) overlooked both the castle and the cable car and was in the far corner on the 2nd floor, it was quiet enough to have the balcony door open at night. A couple of very minor negative points - you may be charged €8 per day for parking in the garage as there is very limited parking in the grounds. The bathroom, although very clean, was quite small, particularly the shower cubicle. I also think it is a little overpriced for a 3* hotel (we paid €110 per night, although admittedly it was in high season). However, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Hotel Ariston due to the fabulous location, bright & clean rooms and warm hospitality.

For the cost the hotel bed rooms were a little basic, but the loaction and service really made up for it.
