We stayed at the hotel Ariston for five nights on our recent vaction in Italy. The most important thing about the hotel is its perfect location. It is a block uphill from the historic section of the town, which made it easy to go back and forth, and also provided nice views from the hotel's rooms and front porch. The Mt. Baldo gondola (which takes you up to one of the best views in Italy) is about 100 feet away.
The Ariston's staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived very late on our first night, and they made arrangements for us to get the key in case we missed the 11PM front desk closing time. They were also very prompt in helping us with a problem that we had with our room safe (it was fixed within 30 minutes). The waiter at breakfast (which is included in the room rate) quickly learned our preferences and brought us exactly what we liked without us even having to ask.
The rooms were decent-sized and had plenty of closet space, as well as a room safe. Our bathroom had an enclosed shower in place of a tub. There was plenty of hot water and pressure. The hotel has recently added free WiFi, which we were able to use in our room as well as in the comfortable lobby seating area. Our one complaint was that they shut off the WiFi between 11PM and 7AM.
The breakfast was very pleasant. We ate each morning on the the hotel's porch overlooking its gardens and Lake Garda. The porch had a roof that protected us from the rain. The breakfast selections were standard European fare - eggs, meats, breads.
The hotel's grounds were beautiful, with a nice garden and plenty of flowers. There are plenty of places to sit outside, including a hammock.
The hotel has indoor and outdoor parking. It was a tight fit for our larger rental car, but very convenient.
Contrary to a previous post, the hotel now accepts Visa and MasterCard. We had no problems using a credit card from the USA to pay our bill.
