“Exellent clean and spacious apartments”

We had a week at La Divina in the October half term holidays, booked as a package with Thomsons, The room was large with a single and a double sofa bed which was fine for us, The kitchen had all we needed as we did eat in on a few occassions. The TV had CNN and BBC World News in English. Two supermarkets close by were reasonable for bread milk etc. There is an exellent Pizza Takeaway next to the Panorama Hotel where 3 large pizzas were 13 Euros. The ice creams are also very good and ranged from 2 - 3 Euros.
In 7 days it rained for for 1 1/2 days, Others days were lovely and warm where you could wear shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. People were sunbathing on the beach ( which has black sand) and some were in the sea. The hotel pool was very cold. It did chill off in the evening and the locals were dressed in winter coats.
If you wanted to use the local bus you need to buy your tickets first. You can do this in shops with the SITA sign. They all go to either Amalfi or Salerno. To go to Sorrento you change at Amalfi which is 15 minutes away. The bus experience is definately worth doing. There are lots of tight bends and sheer drops to the sea below on very narrow roads. It is a short walk to the next resort of Minori which has a much smaller beach.

Overall a very good holiday. Italy impressed us and we would go back to Maiori.

“11 nights in Maiori”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Just arrived home after 11 nights at La Davina in Maiori and felt we had to write a short review about the great experince we had there.

Having never been to this part of Italy before we were unsure what to expect, especially as we normally go bed and breakfast, and from previous good reviews on here we went for La Davina Apartments. The reviews were spot on, the apartments were fantastic and having your own little home from home with a fully kitted out kitchen made for a great change with a choice of two supermarkets within a short walk and a wonderful alimentari just round the corner who spoke fluent english and provided the most heavenly home made lemon cheesecake amongst many more home made delights.

Antonio was a perfect host at La Davina and helped us find our feet, feel at home and was never too busy if we needed anything. The cleaning staff are mentioned in other reviews to have only cleaned the room weekly, in our experience they were around every 2 days throughout our stay and did a fantastic job, hope they enjoyed the drinks and food we left for them when we had to come home. All apartments are serviced by two lifts and are excellent in terms of size, decor, comfort and facilities.

We also took up the boat trip to Capri which was a great day out as the Island really is idyllic and also well cheaper than the organised alternatives at 35 euro each for a return journey (ask Antonio for details and the boat goes from the sea end of the harbour area). Bus tickets were available from the Tabacchi 30 metres from the apartments or the bar round the corner. You can also get tickets from a machine (outside the other tabacchi on the seafront) if you have enough change (7.20 Euro for 24 hour ticket), once purchased, Amalfi was only 15 minutes away which we visited several times. We also travelled out to Positano which was beautiful but a little hilly for my disabled partner as the bus drops off on the main road at the top of a steepish descent into the town. She managed it well though and enjoyed the experience fully.

Highly recommended for both the holiday experience, travel, excellent accomodation (cheers Antonio and staff). We will return definitely and would wholeheartedly recommend La Davina and the Amalfi Coast to anyone wanting a relaxed, multi purpose holiday with breathtaking scenery and great food and drink!

“Tour the Amalfi Coast from a comfortable base.”

Not your luxury 4 or 5 star luxury Caribbean resort! But a great spot! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very clean and well kept. Kitchen was a great convenience. Did some cooking since groceries were nearby. Loved the fresh Italian produce. We shopped at DECO mostly, located a couple of blocks to the left as you exit the building.. The 24 hours Sita bus ticket for 7 Euros was great. We were able to do daily trips and covered Sorrento, Ravello, Positano and Amalfi. Antonio at the front desk recommended boat trip to the Island of Capri, cost less than half the price of the advertised ones. One day was not enough for this trip. Capri was the highlight of our vacation. I highly recommend it. You can also take this trip from Positano. The Garden restaurant in Ravello is a must. Just as you get off the bus look to your left. It sits on the cliff overlooking the Sea, very idyllic.

Room Tip: Was able to get WiFi from the second floor balcony. Usually you have to go down to the front office...

had a ace stay in italy. apartments are spacious, clean, plenty of kitchen supplies, parking. the pool and grounds are looked after thoroughly and daily and the staff r friendly and helpful. driving in italy is hairraising but once u get used to it is fine. if u use bus get ur tickets from shop as we had trouble with machine swallowing our cash. do c pompeii, capri, amalfi church is stunning. food and drink is dearer but u can get bargains in snack bars and takeaways. and supermarkets r reasonably priced.

“Very nice apartments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Clean spacious apartments in centre of Maiori. Staff changed bedlinen after first week and cleaned apartment on another ocassion. Pool was very clean and there were adequate sun beds.
Overall a very good holiday. Used public transport- Sita buses- to get around. Though at times the Amalfi coast and the bends were frightening but overall manageable but after two weeks we were pleased the bus journeys were at an end. Although other places seem nearby the journeys are long because of the roads so leave plenty of time. Plenty of restaurants to choose from but were sometimes pricey. The best place we found was Chiosco Francesco which was on beach front opposite San Francesco Hotel. The owner Franco was lovely and his food was excellent. He made pasta, big sandwiches, great salads and the like. For a family of four and alcohol it was averaging 43 euros compared to pizzerias nearby which could range from 73 upwards!!
Vesuvius and Pompeii is a must and so is Ravello and Amalfi.
