“Warm -friendly- great location.”

I am a little late with this review but better late than never!!

What a lovely hotel.

This is rated a 3 star hotel so it must be reviewed as such. In my humble opinion, with a little work in the dining room/food and the bar layout, this could easily become a 4 star classification hotel.

The hosts could not be more friendly right from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Elizabeth and Arrigo are charming, attentive and always willing to offer any help they can. The location is excellent mere metres from the Spinale Cable car, the bus shuttle and Madonna's main street. Car parking for us was right t the front door.

Our room was excellent...clean and comfortable and quiet even though it was beside the road. The tight ski room is beside the front door so no flights of steps! The bar was a welcome relief with a very very entertaining and lovely barman! He is a special and welcome part of the hotel! The spa has all you need, large and modern.

I..we actually as I was with my GF....loved our stay and the only blip we had was that the food was not really our favourite. The breakfast was fine and had everything we ate and needed but the dinner was not great. Just one example....entrecôte with puréed potatoes. The beef was tasty and beautifully cooked but the potatoes were...packet potatoes!

Arrigo to his credit made a mistake in the booking offer that cost him a good deal of euro. But he honoured the original offer, with no hesitation, and we were grateful and glad to be dealing with a very honourable professional man and team.

Despite our misgivings about the dinners we liked the hotel so much it has to have a 5 star from us.

“great hotel with excellent staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

a group of 7 of us travelled to madonna di campiglio for a late season skiing holiday and stayed at the Hotel Bonapace. Run by Arrigo and his charming wife this is an absolutely ideal hotel if you want good ,clean accommodation, delicious food (and lots of it) and a crazy barman - all at a fantastic price.
For our week they offered a deal of 7 nights half board plus 6 day ski pass for Euros 420 - the ski pass alone is Euros 180.
The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from the centre of town and is close to the Spinali lift. Whilst it's a fairly large hotel it has a good feeling about it and the staff are excellent.
Breakfast was a buffet with ham, cheeses, boiled eggs, pastries etc . Dinner was meant to be 3 courses but usually ended up as 5 as there was a substantial salad bar and the chef normally served up a "little starter" before the pasta course. There were 3 choices for each course. To start there was soup, pasta or risotto followed by beef, veal, pork and a similar range of desserts. It was not only good local cuisine but plentiful.
The rooms were clean and spacious. There are some with balconies, some with baths and/ or showers. If you have a preference then let them know when you book.
The hotel has a good "wellness" centre with steam bath and sauna...nice to have a good steam at the end of a long day's skiing.
The bar is a good size and reasonably priced and run by Claudio who should really be on the stage somehwere. For those of you who enjoy a bit of a sing song Claudio will give you all the encouragement you need....as long as he's allowed to join in.
All in all a great week's skiing at an excellent price in a well run, friendly hotel.

Very good localization - really close to Spinale cable car (4 minutes walk in ski boots), with convenient way back to hotel. Friendly and helpfull service and really delicious meals. After hours very funny and striking Claudio - the Bonapace Chief Barkeeper - with thousand ideas, jokes and funny tales.

Room Tip: We had south-oriented 543 - real nice...

“friendly, warm and spotless hotel - don't miss the "Crazy Barman" Claudio”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2011

This was our second visit to wonderful Madonna di Campiglio, which we noticed had changed quite a bit in five years, largely for the better. Last time we stayed at the allegedly 4* Savoia Palace - great location, good rooms, superb breakfast but fading round the edges and pricey. This time, the supposedly more modest Hotel Bonapace was our venue for the week. We were never quite why the Bonapace is only 3* - possibly one of the those quirks of ratings to do with numbers of lifts or type of hairdryers or something. The first impression, which does not fade, is how spotless everything is in the communal areas and this extends to the bar, restaurant and bedrooms. Arrigo and his wife run the hotel in a very hands-on, accessible way, and are generally very happy to help with restaurant bookings etc. We managed to negotiate B&B as half board always seems such a shame in Italy with so many fab restaurants around. I'm not convinced it was great value, but it was what we wanted. Consequently we can't comment on the quality of dinner, but breakfast was plentiful and very good, with a wide choice of breads, cakes, cheese and hams, eggs to boil, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, jams, hot and cold drinks etc. We found the waiting staff rather grumpy and humourless at breakfast, a bit ready to tell you off if you got something wrong, whilst curiously unaware that it doesn't look good to replenish the cereals directly from the industrial-sized catering pack right in the middle of the restaurant.

Our room was very large and comfortable, satellite tv, a big bathroom with bath and shower, and crucially plenty of hanging space for all the gear - we've stayed in supposedly smarrter ski hotels with far worse room facilities. The bed was comfortable and large. We had a lovely balcony with view over the town to the mountains.

The hotel has a heated boot and ski room just inside the main entrance where you can lock up your skis and poles and leave your boots on heated pegs overnight.

The real star of the Bonapace is Claudio, the self-styled "Crazy Barman" with his vast library of music, hand-catalogued by artist, album and track. He'll play anything you want, and distribute typed sheets of the lyrics for everyone to singalong with him - he ought to be on some kind of "Italy's Got Talent" really. He's also got great customer service skills and makes a killer Irish Coffee, and is just a really friendly jolly guy.

Our criticism of this otherwise very nice hotel, which they could fix if they chose to, is that an 8am start to breakfast is late in a ski resort, when the lifts open at 8.30, since it always takes about an hour to get out after breakfast. The other downside, which they can't fix, is that it's an awkward walk to the nearest lift (Spinale) although a ski bus stops very nearby, but sometimes it almost feels not worth walking to the bus stop when you may aswell walk to the lift. It's also a long walk into and back from the town centre, especially if you're carrying skis. That said, it's incredibly handy for some excellent restaurants - don't miss the dinner at the Stube Rosengarten next door (absolutely superb) and the Antico Focolare which is also excellent and very friendly, if you can bear watching the Russians being rude to the waiting staff and put up with their endless toasts.

Beyond that, Madonna di Campiglio is a wonderful resort, hardly any English people (a plus in my book and I am English), interestingly cosmopolitan now with skiers from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe as well as the local crowd - we heard 11 different languages on the piste. If I never skied anywhere else again I wouldn't mind as long as I could go there.

“unjust value for money during the high season”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We stayed at hotel Bonapace during last Christmas.
To their credit they were one of the few decent hotels in Madonna d.C. allowing pets. Another item to their credit is excellent service. Arrigo was always trying his best to help me and his other clients with all sorts of requests. I actually wonder how could he manage, as he was the only man most of the time.
On the downside the following is worth noting:

1. our room was certainly of a lower standard than those nice ones displayed on the hotel’s web page; I have uploaded real pictures of our bathroom and blankets that date back quite a while; so is the room’s decoration
2. large parking is mentioned on the web page, but I guess everything is relative. The inside parking could fit 7 cars at best (in which case cars can only leave if the closest to exit give way to others); and there is space for about 5-6 more cars in front of the hotel. But again in fairness to the hotel’ owners parking is free.
3. No complaints about the food – average according to Italian standard; nothing to write home about.

But the most unpleasant impression that we carried with us after that stay was the price: we paid 406 euros per night per triple room with breakfast only. Although it was proposed to us well in advance and it was pick of the season on my opinion this price was nowhere near the reasonable level. Add just 50 euros and you can choose 4-5 star hotel in the neighborhood. We expected more room for this money and were quite disappointed.

Otherwise the rest of description is correct.
Conclusion: good 3 star hotel, nicely located, offering good service to its customers. But if you want to spend Euro 400+ per night look elsewhere in Madonna di Campiglio.
