Hotel Caracso's view is breathtaking. The hotel decor, service, location, and value for money were all exceptional.

The restaurant has amazing food and the staff are very polite and professional.

This 4 star hotel we highly recommend to anyone wanting to spend an unforgettable vacation on the beautiful island of Lipari!

We have personally visited this hotel for the second time and look forward to staying there again soon.

5 of us stayed as a family(in 3 rooms) for 10 days in the middle of july.the hotel has obviously had better days(it was a four star and is now three and a half) but is still a charming example of an old fashioned friendly,family run hotel.The facilities are a bit tired but the food is excellent at lunch and dinner -although the breafast buffet needs supplementing with fresh fruit from outside and forget the juices.A little reinvestment in the hotel fabric would go a very long way,but the fantastic weather and the local options in town and on boats around neighbouring islands make it an excellent base for a relaxed holiday.partly because it has slipped a bit it is actually very good value for what you get.Recommended if you dont need to be showing off.

My mother, 13 yr old daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights. The Hotel Carasco is located above the main town of Lipari (on Lipari) and has a tremendous view of the main harbor below. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the center of town and the harbor area. It should be noted that the hotel is at the top of a very long, steep driveway. My (72 yr old) mom was able to make it, but only with a rest half way up. You can arrange either a free shuttle into town through the hotel (scheduled ahead of time) or a taxi if the walk is too much. Clean, modern rooms with a/c and tiled floors. The beds were hard as a rock, but we each got used to them by the end of our stay. Breakfast included hard boiled eggs, cheese, meats, cereals, yogurt, fruit, tea, coffee, pastries each morning. A plus was the unbelievable view from the breakfast terrace. Just breathtaking! One morning we were even treated dolphins coming into the harbor just below. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. I would recommend this hotel for any travelers to Lipari.

Situated in a beautiful spot about 1km from the town centre of Lipari (but 2.5km by road) the hotel offers good size rooms, a free shuttle service to town, an outdoor saltwater swimming pool with sun terrace and good bar service, and attractive gardens.
The big plus for the Carasco is the restaurant: the half-board menu is of an excellent standard and very good value. The menu includes a choice of pasta or primi piatti, followed by a choice of main courses (mostly fish) and dessert or gelato. Half board can be taken at lunch or dinner.
The Carasco was highly recommended to us, but we had the impression of an establishment struggling to cut costs - the breakfast was less extravagant than before (OK but basic), areas of the terrace were fenced off (for reasons of safety or lack of maintenance) as was one of the two stairways leading to the sea, and our bedspread had a hole in it.
The hotel was less than half full in this period, casualty no doubt of the recession. In conclusion, I'd still recommend it. Be sure to shop around as prices and availability vary among the internet agencies, with even a 25% variation in the price of the dinner.
