“the best hotel location in Lipari”

We had a wonderful week at Carasco Hotel.
We booked a suite at the top floor facing the ocean. The views are UNIC!!! The room was very spacious and clean. Huge new bathroom. The furniture very essential, but ok.
As far as the food, we didn't have any meal there, exept for breakfast and the first night when we arrived past 10:00 pm. They have been nice enough to give us some food even though the restaurant was closed.
Every night we took our moped and drove few minutes into the little town where you can find great restaurants.
A particular thank you to Pietro (I hope I remember his name right), a very young guy, so helpful and kind, he went out of his way to please us. He even make us coffee the morning we left, it was very early and the Hotel was still sleeping. When we wanted to leave him a tip he refused it saying the most important thing was we had been happy with our staying.
We went on boat trips visiting the other islands almost every day!
If we have to find a down side, well they organized a huge party on August 14th, for the Hotel guest AND for oursiders. It was right on the pool area, meaning where all the rooms are located. It started aroun 11:00pm and went on past 4:00 am! The music and the screeming were SO UNBEARBLY LOUD the window glasses were trembling for all the time. My husband went down a couple of times arguing with the maneger, but no luck. That has been a very unprofessional way to handle a party, with no respect at all for the guest who wanted to sleep at least from midnight on. The morning after, all the guests we talked to were mad like us, because the party was mostly for drunk outsiders. The Hotel is in a very peaceful location, and people like it also because of it. There are so many places in town where you can dance up to dawn, so what's the point?
But, overall a great experience !
We would go back right away!

“Fantastic Hotel,”

Great Hotel, Great location, stayed in a Superior Room, views were fantastic, room was spacious and comfortable, en suite was fabulous... particularly the jacuzzi bath tub! The hotel was only a 15 minute walk from Lipari town. The hotel runs a bus to and from Lipari town on an almost hourly basis during the day for those who dont fancy the walk. The only negative were the hotel receptionists who were unhelpful and unfriendly. I was almost put off by the terrible reviews this hotel recieved, but am delighted that i did go, this hotel is definately worth a visit.

“If you advertise for non-Italian tourists, be prepared for them...!!”

A first holiday during which I wanted to go home! As many before me pointed out, the location is beautiful, overlooking the see is a real treat but could've been better if you back didn't hurt from the uncomfortable hard plastic sun beds. Also a lot more care and maintenance could've been given to the pool area. Missing tiles in the pool floor are surely not safe for anyone, especially in the children's section.

Staff spoke very little English (yes, even the English speaking receptionists!). You would be all right if you didn't ever need anything from them. (I forgot something behind and found impossible to get a full sentence or understanding from the receptionst who asked me to call back three times and still didn't manage to do what I asked her to). English isn't my first language but I do use it on travels since I cannot learn every language in the world. Staff seemed constantly upset about something and hardly gave you a smile or greeted you.

The accomodation was average and could be improved on. The beds were so old they were shaped by the hundreds of travellers before me.

One thing that made my stay most unpleasant was, however, something hotel could do something about. Smoking and mobile phones. It seems to be an Italian sport but I wish hotel management forbid phones and smoking at breakfast (yes, try to have a nice start of a day with someone's terrible ringtone and smoke everywhere!). The same applies to the pool area. This may be all right for the Italian customers but it certainly spoiled my holiday.

There were moments I wished to come home and quite frankly, if you don't want too much from your holiday and you don't wish to relax, hotel Carasco is the place. The place could be a gem of the island, just some love, care and bloody hell a smile!!! would do the job!
The best thing I did was hire a scoother and go to a beech just north from Lipari town. .

“Good clean hotel, friendly helpful owner”

Hotel was spotless, not a sign of a squashed mozzie anywhere, just a few mosaic tiles missing from large pool.
Decor was perhaps a little hard, with bathroom and floors tiled in local style. Rooms were clean and housekeeping very good.
Quality of food in restaurant was very good and reasonably priced too, though we did prefer to eat out as this is what one does on holiday!
We had a late afternoon ferry back to Sicily, and, as our room was needed for next guests, we were given another room for our use for the rest of the day - and this was a room cleaned and ready for use - no charge.
The staff were friendly, and helpful to all, even Americans. At ~€120ppd it was excellent value. I would not hesitate to recommend it. My only caveat is that it could be noisy when full as it was perhaps only 30% occupied when I was there.

“Nice View but that's all it's got going for it...”

I booked this hotel based on reviews on Trip Advisor. I gotta say it was the most digusting hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff were rude (in fairness it was the owners) the view from the rooms were great but that's all it had going for it. I'm amazed I didn't get food poisoning from the dinner we had on the first night and it was a complete rip off. The dinner was set menu which had obviously been cooked hours before because it was all served within 2 minutes of ordering - stone cold... (not good for seafood).

The bus timetable was a complete farce. It never ran on time, went early, later. the beds we about 20 years old and hard as a rock my husband & I both had sore backs and were very tired from lack of sleep and the lumpy hard beds.

We lasted 2 days there and then moved into town where we experienced the most welcoming fabulous hotel, which I'll review separately. Give the Hotel Carasco a big wide berth... It's horrible.

  • Liked — Nothing it had no redeeming features whatsoever
  • Disliked — The beds were unbearable you just couldn't sleep on them.
