We stayed at this hotel in August 2011, 2 adults and 2 teenagers (aged 17&15) staying for 7 nights. We arrived at the hotel to find luxury cars in the car park - a promising start and when we went to the reception desk we were greeted with excellent English speaking and very friendly staff, who showed us to our room, carried our luggage and explained various things about the hotel. We were one of only a few English people in the hotel, although this didn't bother us as everybody was really friendly! Breakfast was simply superb, a huge variety (including made to order juices!) although we never ate at the hotel in the evening partly due to the extensive restaurants on the promenade varying from 5euros for a pizza to 20euros+ for seafood and also partly because it seemed slightly over priced. Also there is a roof top bar with stunning view of the sea but drinks were very expensive.
The rooms were well equipped including a small kitchenette (perfect if you wanted to up to the room and grab some lunch!) and the air conditioning was fabulous!
There was an indoor pool with a sauna showers and steam room which was never overly busy along with a heated outdoor pool, which was never packed and you would be greeted by the lifeguard who provided you with towels and showed you to sun beds(although on occasions there were only few spare).
The location of the hotel was perfect: just across the road is the beach (although you do have to pay unless you go on a 'free beach' which were always packed), and also the 4km promenade which was full of shops and restaurants on either side and often a market. Traditionally the Italians walk up and down between 7&8pm which creates a really lovely atmosphere!
I really recommend a hire car to go and visit fort de marmis (where the designer shops are), a tour of the marble mines and a trip to Lucca is a must! A simply beautiful walled town. Also ask the reception staff to recommend restaurants away from the promenade... we only did this on the last night and ended up at the BEST italian restaurant we'd ever been to!
Overall a fab holiday with lots to do and the teenagers were not bored in the slightest!
