“Wow Azzurra”

"The hotel picture on their website does not do this place justice. It is a well-kept beautiful little hotel right on the beach. Only the road separates you from the lovely beach. Great fun location. This is the starting point if you decide to see the Cinque Terra by boat. The best way to see it. Lerici was a real surprise. We loved it and wished we could have stayed longer. You need a car, however, to get to the hotel. Hotel free parking was very nearby and when we departed, we were able to bring the car right up to the front of the hotel. The staff are not super friendly (except for one blond-haired lady) but we found that most Italians seem to mind their own business. Our room was bigger than we expected. Lerici and this hotel are just great. Internet is in their lobby."

“Has a Few Miles On IT”

I walked up to the hotel without a reservation and was given a tour of the room before I agreed to take it. The hotel is old and the rooms could stand some improvements. Nevertheless, the price was good, 95 euro per night which included the ok breakfast. We stayed here for two nights at the end of October.

The location of this hotel is excellent as you can walk to the town of Lerici and the boat docks. My girlfriend and I made the walk several times and found it quite enjoyable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in answering your questions about the area. Parking was not a problem as the hotel gave us a pass and we parked right outside the front entrance.

The bathroom is very small but the great water pressure in the shower more than made up for this shortcoming. The view from the balcony is amazing and you can sit and watch the boats in the bay and also watch the sun set.

The hotel has a computer for internet use in the lobby for a nominal fee. There is no restaurant on the premisis and they were not able to offer me a glass of wine for purchase. I had arrived here from the Chianti area and loved my wine, so was shocked to find an Italian hotel without wine for purchase!!!

“What a fantastic view”

I am amazed by what people expect for 110 euros a night. This hotel has the best position of any in Lerici. It has the beach 15 yards away and a gentle flat 10 minute stroll into the town. The view from the rooms is the best I have ever seen in that you look out over the town and the bay. The hotel certainly was clean, smelt fresh and was not in need of upgrading. Parking was easy with a pass for the car park 30 yards away. The rooms are smallish but again clean, with a large verandah. The shower was hot with plentiful water. The only downside was a lack of pool but the beach is sandy and so close. The staff were very helpful and friendly and food was varied at breakfast. All in all a great place to stay in a lovely area.

“Great views, good service, adequate room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2006

We arrived at the Hotel Venere Azzurra the day before the World Cup. The room was not as large as depicted in the photographs, however the balcony was wonderful although not private. It overlooked the Bay of Poets and a great beach. Our room had air conditioning which was adequate, in fact too cold at times so I can't understand what the previous reviewer was talking about (maybe his was broken!). The breakfast was not good, just some overbaked croissants and some prepacked crackers and biscuits. The only silver lining was that they offered cappuccino made on the spot. We had a very nice lady help us on a couple of occasions, she advised us on good places to eat in Lerici. The parking was about 50 meters away, they gave a special permit which was helpful since it was a limited parking zone so it wasn't too inconvenient. Lerici itself was a great place to visit and about a 15 minute walk away, although the city bus came frequently and was easy to ride. The hair dryer in my room didn't work so I had bad hair after I washed it!

I would definitely recommend Lerici, it is super convenient to the Cinque Terre but a destination for Italians which made it really great to see Italy win the World Cup! We only had one other group speaking English in two days in Lerici which is exactly how we like to travel. The towns of the Cinque Terre were completely covered in Americans so I'm very glad we didn't stay there. A ferry ride to the Cinque Terre at it's most distant point was about 20 Euro round trip, expensive but worth it as driving is very difficult.

“Not what it seems”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2006

This hotel might look passable from the outside when you take into account the beautiful view. Take away the view and you find a very downtrodden hotel.

First of all there is no parking and trying to put your car somewhere is a nightmare. The interior is so run down that if I had not booked in advance and left my details i would have made a quick exit. The rooms were pathetic and the furniture was only fit for a bonfire. The whole room and bathroom were in immediate need of a facelift and the standards were quite pathetic. Nothing worked properly e.g. phone, TV, lights and ther was a constant smell of fustiness.

There are absolutely no facilities and the small restaurant only serves up what they call a breakfast. The most dire breakfast you can imagine. The bathroom in the bedroom had broken and dirty tiles and again nothing worked.

The hotel had no air conditioning, as it advertised, and sleeping was horrendous in the heat. You could not open the veranda door as the noise in the street went on all night.

Truly this hotel should be avoided and at 130 Euros per night it was the biggest rip off we had in the whole of our Italian Tour. We were so happy to leave simply to get a good nights sleep

Avoid at all costs you have been warned.
