A more than warm welcome from our host Mauro. Mauro collected us at the Gate of the Old Town and showed us a parking spot. And the first impression of the 16th century Palazzo, in which the B&B is located: fabulous! Of course it is an old building but then, in de heart of de historic centre of Lecce, such an romantic building... The rooms have high ceilings and basically but stylish and full of character furnished&decorated.

Mauro took time for the introduction of Lecce. He gave us a map of historical Lecce, marked on it all the sights to see as well as giving us good restaurants (including tel.numbers) and evening entertainment recommendations. The best tip: Natale, a pasticceria&gelateria near the main square. We are absolutely sure: this is the best ice-cream we had ever!

The last evening we had the top-room on the roof. So we spent our last afternoon&evening lounging on the rooftop terrace that has a nice panoramic view of Lecce.

But the best part of our stay in Centro Storico is the warm, kind hospitality of Mauro. A little story to underline this. The last day we went to pick up our car. He turned out to be towed away by the police since workmen of the city of Lecce had to cut trees. We neither Mauro didn’t know that. Mauro went with us to the police station and got really furious since we were parking with his parking permission on a spot he showed us. He even paid all the costs including the ticket! Mauro, you’re definitely the best inn-keeper we met on our 3-week-Italy-trip! Chapeau! And for sure, we’ll be back!

The Centro Storico is a kind of bed and breakfast located at the second floor of a historical building in the historical center of Lecce. You will enjoy all commodities you may need: large room, private bath, great (continental) breakfast, sitting in the sun on the rooftop, and WIFI access. There is no elevator, and the place may be hard to find. But people from the hotel will meet you near the castle (easy to find), and then guide you to the hotel. They will also take care of your luggage and move them up to the hotel floor. Oh yes, people from the hotel are extremely friendly; they also recommended us superbe restaurants.

Our stay in Lecce was a great experience. It all began with B&B Centro Storico and Mauro, the owner. Great room with vaulted ceilings. Great rooftop terrazzo for breakfast al fresco. A superior location, just steps from some great places to eat and drink alla Pugliese. We were in the area to do some serious cycling and Mauro put us onto some unforgettable roads -- light on traffic and heavy on atmosphere. He also put us onto some terrific places to eat -- no touristy stuff, no rip-offs, just great local cuisine in very authentic settings. Mauro is the consummate host, his B&B is first-rate and his city is elegant -- a gem not to be missed. Choose this B&B and enjoy Lecce.

It was simply delightful. The location is excellent. Excellent rates, hosts and facilities. The room was charming and the views are fabulous. Our hosts gave us some excellent recommendations for eating and drinking, and I do believe that we had the best ice-cream ever in the nearby 'Gelaterie Natalie'.
