I can't say enough good things about the Patria Palace......old style courteous and personal service, beautiful art-deco style rooms, a window overlooking the most beautiful church in Lecce......and all right in the middle of the Historic center of this charming Baroque city.
We were in fact upgraded to a "jr. suite" which was incredibly spacious and beautiful; although I'm sure the regular rooms were also very nice. The breakfast buffets were bountiful and delicious; we also had dinner at the hotel one night, which was excellent. We ate outside in a small garden patio, candlelit, romantic...we could see the foot traffic come and go; the bill was slightly more than the usual trattoria, but the service was impeccable and the food delicious. Well worth it.
The only problem is if you are driving, it's not that easy to find the hotel....however, numerous signs put up by the hotel around the city center help you navigate. Another plus is they will put the car in their garage and bring it out when you need it again. And anyplace in the city you want to visit is just walking distance away.
