“Italian classic, impeccable, imperious and gloriously appointed.”

Booked this hotel for our anniversary weekend, on recommendation from italian colleague who comes from Lecce. I had booked a junior suite online, and on arriving were promptly taken to our room 101. Once inside both my wife and I were incredibly impressed with the suite, high painted ceilings, classic Italian furniture, stone mantelpiece, beautiful decoration, and huge! But even then the surprises weren't finished, the balcony for the suite opens out into the main street below and the roman amphitheatre just a short walk away. The balcony was larger than the entire downstairs of my home! My wife noted that if this was a junior suite she'd love to see the full suites, however on speaking to concierge it turned out that we had been given the Presidential suite even though we had only paid for a junior! The manager said that the hotel had a policy of upgrading suites in less busy times, so we had an unexpected bonus. As to the rest of the hotel, the rooftop restaurant was lovely, and very romantic, attentive staff, and excellent food with a distinctly local emphasis. Nothing was too much trouble, and everyone from cleaning staff up to management were impeccable. The city was magificent, climate wonderful, and out of season the beaches and attractions were very quiet. We will definitely come back, even if we don't get the presidential suite! Come to Lecce and stay at the Risorgimento, you will not be disappointed.

“Don't know how they got 5 stars.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Just spent 6 nights at this hotel. Their stars are pure, baseless hype. 1. They state on their website that they have a first floor fitness center with steppers, runners, etc. They don't. They have a "fitness area" on the 4th floor with three (3) pieces of equipment - a bike, a treadmill and a universal. 2. They state on their website that they assist with bicycle rentals. Our concierge directed us to the wrong address for a rental. When we got the correct address, it was to a mostly car-rental location that had a couple of old, dirty bikes for rent and neither the concierge or the shop had any idea of routes - - even though the town and region is circled by a network of posted routes. We discovered the routes only after we drove to "Southern Visions" in Monopoli, an hour away. 3. We asked for dinner reservations. 24 hours later, and 45 minutes before the meal was to begin, we were told, when we ran into the concierge by chance, that the restaurant was booked for a private party. 4. Breakfast was OK, but they don't re-stock, so if you're late, tough luck. They are in a good location.

Room Tip: Stay at the Doubletree.

“If you want luxury and great service, then these guys will spoil you!”

If you want luxury and great service, then these guys will spoil you!

Five star luxury in the old city centre of Lecce at excellent value for money! I really have no bad word to say about my stay at Risorgimento Resort. From the moment my partner arrived we new we were going to have an amazing week in Salento.
The hotel is situated right in the heart of Lecce, opposite the roman amphitheatre and Piazza Sant’Oronzo. The hotel is a ten-minute walk from the train station, and a hotel shuttle bus can be arranged to Brindisi and Bari (enquire directly with the hotel).
Risorgimento Resorts staffs were extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet has a huge selection and served till 11am. The rooms are spacious, clean and very modern. With all the 5 star amenities you require. If you want to be spoilt spa treatments are also available.
My only negative although it wasn’t the biggest issue was the WIFI, which is free but not available in your room. Much to the annoyance of my partner I had to pop down to the lobby regularly to use the Internet!
My partner and I wanted to visit and explore Salento and the RR in Lecce was the perfect spot from all the main towns to visit. I suggest hiring a car to visit the beach towns of Otranto & Gallipoli and also to drive the breathtaking coast to Leuca SM (an absolute must!!). Lecce is a 30 min bus ride away to the beach of San Cataldo. The town of Lecce is a gem in itself, with its baroque style churches on every corner, an absolute eye opener.

Room Tip: try a room at the back, although the AC does drown out the noise of the street!

“Good 5 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here on our return from a week in the far South. Our inward journey hotel experience was not what we were expecting so we raised the bar some what!

Great location could not ask for better
Car's were valet parked at no extra charge
Check in was smooth
Our room was huge on the 1st floor, very quiet looking into a light well - Room 109
It had no view what so ever and seeing day light was a mission but it personally did not bother me, we were hardly in our room
Very comfy king sized bed with walk in closet - shame we were only here for one night!
Lovely bathroom with all the bells & whistles you would expect
Roof bar did not open until 8pm we were told - should be open much earlier
The margarita my cousin ordered was not very good - no salty rim - don't sell it if you cant make it AND charge 10 euro! Service was slow in the bar but obliging - soda water instead of tonic in the Gin etc
Very good nibbles at the bar
Breakfast was rather chaotic - at 9.45am all the tables were either taken or needed clearing. i cleared my own table - it was quicker. Very understaffed with only the bar man from the night before serving eventually another waiter arrived. Most of the food needed replenishing and at one stage there was literally NOTHING to eat!
The food was however very good, great cold cuts, interesting pastries, etc.

Check out was smooth -ish!

Good hotel not sure if 5 start Luxe is a correct rating - needs designer products in the bathroom, top notch cocktails and smooth as silk service to get 5 start Luxe rating in my book!

From the moment you step into the lobby you know this is going to be a special experience. Sleek Italian design, very clean, helpful staff, great breakfast buffet. We'd stay here again for sure.
