Our ship the Costa Concordia sank on Jan. 13, 2012. We were taken by lifeboat onto the beautiful island of Giglio. The Hotel Bahamas (as well as many residents of Giglio) showed us compassion and kindness. The Hotels Bahamas donated shelter & refreshments (it's lobby, cafe, liquor, etc., etc.) to many of us . Although our time on Gilio was short, will be forever grateful to the owner and staff of the Hotel Bahamas. Such a beautiful hotel on a beautiful island with such beautiful people. Thank you so much for what you did for all of us. We hope to return to you one day to thank you in person. Nancy

“Paradise in Italy:Bahamas Hotel”

There is an island off the west coast of Italy called Isola del Giglio (Island of the Lilies) that is almost heaven. Reachable by a beautiful 1-hour ferry ride from Orbetello/Mont Argentario, it has 3 main towns that are connected by bus. We stayed right in Porto Giglio, where the ferries dock. Only 300 meters from the dock, yet almost in another world is the Bahamas Hotel. Our room had an enormous tiled balcony overlooking the sea, with views in every direction. Prima colazione (breakfast) was included in the 70 euro/night charge for our delightful double room (about $85). This included croissants, rolls, cereal, yogurt, espresso, caffe con leche, and assorted jellies. There was even a hair blow drier in the private bathroom (a special treat, since I travel light and never carry one with me). The family who run the hotel couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. This is definitely a hotel I would recommend and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again some day.
