“Adequate Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

We spent a few nights at Araba Fenice with family and friends. The views from the hotel are fantastic however, there is not much outdoor space to sit and admire the view. As it was October the pool area was closed but even so there are not tables a group to sit and enjoy a sundowner. The rooms were adequate. We had a lake view with balcony (lake view is a must due to the rail line) which was comfortable and clean.

The breakfast was disapointing and rather boring after the second day. Staff at the breakfast and the bar did not speak any english. Reception staff did speak English but were not overly helpful. Sergio at reception was the exception. He was helpful and went out of his way to assist.

We had stayed in other 4 star hotels in Italy during the previous few weeks and found this to be rather average.

Parking is convenient and the restaurant next door is great. Just remember a car is a must to get around however the hotel does have bikes for hire if you want to cycle to Iseo Town.

“Do not visit this hotel in august”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

we had a family room with a very nice view of the lake the room was big but needs a bit updating the airconditioning was so weak as non existing. In the end we slept very bad ,with open windows, since it was hot and very noisy from the street traffic.The good thing about the hotel was the pool not to big but very refreshing.

“I did not fall in love with this hotel...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2008

I stayed in July 2008 in a double room located in a dependance without lake view and frankly I did not fall in love with this hotel...

Perhaps the stay can be improved choosing a room with lake view, however I have to point out the following drawbacks:

- rooms without lake view face railway line and road that are very close: you can not open the windows without hearing relevant noises;
- pool really small and furthermore from the pool you can see and hear the road and the train (see above) which is really disappointing;
- breakfast is very ordinary (e.g. cakes are note fresh but rather appear prepacked products, no hot foods as eggs);
- cleanliness has to be improved (e.g. a lot of dust under our bed, bathroom);
- absolutely necessary a car since the hotel is far from everywhere;
- small TV (14’’);
- lack of elevetor (at least in my dependance);
- noisy a/c in the room.

All in all, we were looking for a peaceful place (as a lake should be) but we were disappointed by our choice.

“will never return here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2008

people found this review helpful

I recently stayed 3 nights in this hotel as part of a Giro cycling holiday, and I can confidently stay I will never return. The only good thing about this hotel is the location on the lake. Some of our group were lucky to get a room with a view, but many of us (including myself), faced the railway line and road. The staff were unhelpful and unfriendly, the breakfast was very ordinary, and the restaurant was awful, The hotel was inconveniently located away from regular transport, and a 30min walk from Iseo.

“Nice hotel, not a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2008

There is nothing wrong with this hotel, it is medium size, user friendly and worth a saty; but we found it difficult to get too enthusiastic about it either. We stayed for one night en route around Lake Iseo, a nice alternative to the larger lakes and worth a day or two if you are on tour. If this is the case this hotel is worth a stay for a night (or possibly more).

The plus's were the staff - really friendly and very helpful. Good english spoken. The rooms are very clean. However the hotel is quite isolated, immediately by the side of the road and the railway line (however it is very quiet) and you absolutely must have a car. It was a little dificult to find at first - sharp left hand turn from the main street, well signposted if you know what you are looking for! As other reviewers have said there is a railway line nearby - but trains looked pretty infrequent. It is just a few miles outside Iseo - which is well worth a visit and a stay over. There is a really excellent pizzeria (where we ate - very cheaply, and good food all round) only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel itself has what looked like a fine restaurant (as we only stayed one night and we wanted a quick, simple and easy meal, we tried the pizzeria up the road).

Our room had a really nice lakeside view (we had paid for an upgraded room - standard rooms have no lakeside views), very pleasant. However, it was quite small and dark. The bathroom was very average. We were kept awake all night by the ducks - yes I know this sounds odd, but they were really noisy!!! At 110 euros per night (hotel reduced rate) it still felt expensive. Breakfast was fine without being too wonderful (but for a small hotel quite acceptable).

We were there in April - I am sure that during the summer this would be a much nicer affair- there is a small pool and I am sure the location right on the lakeside would be better with the summer sun.

All in all nothing wrong, but if you are in the area our view would be to stay in Iseo itself where it is a bit more lively - or move on a bit and stay at the Hotel Kinzica in Sale Marasino where we stayed the next night which has altogether more character.

In summary don’t let us put you off this hotel. There is nothing wrong with it- but for a prolonged stay try Iseo itself or the hotel Kinzica, just a few miles up the road
