“OK.. But nothing special..”
Firstly.. when I arrived they did not have my reservation (made through a well known internet booking site, some three months ago).. They did offer to honour my first night, but were saying that they were too busy to honour my second night..
Some too-ing and fro-ing and a second night was finally confirmed after I had checked out !! (through some friends who had a spare room booking)..
The error was blamed on an intermediary handling agent between the hotel and the booking site.. The booking site confirmed that the confirmations had been sent.. The hotel claimed they had never received it.. and I was left in between the two.. friendly customer services from both, but little in the way of proper action to reslolve..
I felt that taking my own action was the most satisfactory plan.. (I sorted out the spare room myself for the next night, the hotel still telling me hey were fully booked)..
Anyway..
I guess this hotel is OK..
My room was nicely furnished.. it looked pretty modern and recently (?) refurbished.. on a high floor with a balcony.. Shower only (no bath).. Clean and tidy with the usual accompaniments..
I understand my room was better than some..
Breakfast was OK, nothing special.. But functional enough..
I took dinner in the restaurant (part of the hotel, but owned separately).. Food was nice enough (this is a nice area for food) but the service was appallingly slow.. nearly 2 hours for a starter and a main course is unacceptable, even if busy (which it was, later, but not when I say down)..
Car parking is free (yay!!).. Internet is not (boo!!)..
Staff friendly enough.. did what they could..
This hotel is billed as a 4*.. I suggest a 3-4* would be a better description, based on my experiences elsewhere.. but, then again, since when have these star systems ever been standardised..!!
