“Great hotel in good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived a this hotel. The online reviews weren't very good and to be honest, the location is not the prettiest but the hotel is a proper 4 starts and just 400 meters from the train station (can't beat that!) and 2 minutes walking from the beach in Naxos. (cheeky taxi driver at the station asked EUR 15 to take me there - just walk!)
I loved staying in Naxos as I didn't depend on minibuses carrying me to the Lidos and had the peace and quiet I wanted (whilst Taormina can be too busy). The nearby beach was great and I also had the option to take the Interbus to Recanati - the most beautiful beach in Giardini Naxos!!!
Back to the hotel... the breakfast was very good (eggs, bacon, bread rolls, jam, fruit, yogurt, etc) and staff were very friendly. The swimming pool was great (clean and big with loungers and fresh towels) and there was a jacuzzi on the 1st floor terrace (it was hard to find the entrance though). The bedroom was very clean, the towels fresh and the air-con very good.
I'd suggest that they "upgrade" their pillows as I struggled to sleep with them. Also, the pipe noises in my room woke me up everyday at 06:00 as the people sleeping next door insisted in waking up at this crazy time!!!
I was a bit cheesed off when I was refused an iron and iron board - they probably wanted me to pay for laundry -, such courtesy have never been declined to me before.
This hotel lacked a business area (PC, printer) but I can see why some people would not bother with. The manager was very kind in letting me use his desktop PC to print my boarding pass.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel and have plans to go back next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room and not on the first floor.

“Great swimming pool well needed when the sea water is still too chilly to dip your toe in.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

Enjoy the quietness of this hotel, the excellent home baked sweets in the morning and the great swimming pool and its mini jacuzzi. A few weak points: a car is a must have, no shampoo samples available despite our request, the area around the hotel is a bit run down but the overall experience was positive

“Nice View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

The hotel is well placed to walk everywhere (except the overgrown archaeological site) but the whole area is hilly. Standard room with very large balcony/patio and a splendid view over the sea. Breakfast was adequate but limited in variety; dinner was pr-ordered (the night before) and service was not quite as good as expected by some of the party.
The only bar that appeared to be regularly in use was by the poolside; the pool itself is in a large patio type area with little greenery.

“smart rooms, friendly people at receptiondesk, ill tempered restaurantstaff and middle of the road kitchen”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

Visited hotel for couple of days after round trip along agri turismo's. Interior Hotel and rooms are very nice and comfortable., as well is the swimmingpool.
De staff at the receptiondesk is very friendly and helpfull.
In the restaurant they have a managerial problem: the head waiter is unfriendly and not very attentive; this also infects his co-workers. It gave us the feeling being in an average railwayrestaurant 20 years ago.
Combined with the European ''middle of the road kitchen'', you better choose a restaurant outside.

“A good hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Been there in august 2010 with 2 young children (4+7). Location of the hotel is about 150 mtrs away from the sea. A walk of 7 minutes will bring you to the sea. There you can find some restaurants. The hotel itself is clean. We were upgraded from a junior suite to a suite. The suite has 2 rooms and a bathoom, with separate shower. The children liked the jacuzzi bath a lot. Nice working airco. Lowest = about 23 degrees celcius. That is convenient enough. Nice terrace with table and 4 chairs overlooking the swimmingpool.
Beds are ok. Because of the ambiance they probably don't use boxsprings but normal rustique beds with matrasses. Rate of matrasses: 7 (not bad, not excellent, just ok) Rate of suite: 8,5. Staff is very helpful. 2 times there was a technical problem. It was solved within 10 minutes. So a rate of 9. No complaints about the pool. It was large enough and very clean. Normally the pool is closed for 2 hours in the afternoon (siesta time), but we were allowed to use it. (as long as you don't splash into the smimmingpool and make a lot of noise, what is normal in a hotel that offers welness) Kids liked the pool a lot. They didn't want to go to the beach. So the pool gets a rate of 9.
Breakfast is average. There is a point that management must do something about it.
For a 4 star hotel I expected more variation. Rate 6.5 (ok, but should improve) Parking is large enough, even for 4x4. Rate 9. Last thing: most of the staff speak english, but they vary. One understands you completely, while the other must think twice before understanding what you are saying. I think it will be professional that everyone who works in a hotel can speak at least basic english, and that includes also the lady who cleans the room. Overall, the final conclusion for Hotel Giardino Dei Greci = 8.
