My wife and I wanted a break in a place that wasn't too big or too small, that gave us access to local amenities within a short distance, and a hotel to relax in comfort, and couldn't have asked for anything better.
Garda is a lovely, relatively small town on the eastern bank of the lake with ferry access to the many towns around the lake, and Verona only 45 minutes away. Hotel Regina Adelaide is about 50m back from the lake - some rooms face the lake, but there are a number of trees in a small park in between, so a view of the lake is difficult in the summer. The park also hosts the weekly market on a Friday - just outside the back gate of the hotel for easy access. It is a short walk into the town.
We arrived on a bus and couldn't fault the quick friendly service of the staff. Angelo had us in our room on the 2nd floor in minutes, explaining the room facilities and showing us our 'lake view' (I could just see a bit of the lake through the trees).
Our room was a superior room in the main building with a balcony. It was spacious and well furnished, with a clean modern bathroom complete with bathrobes and slippers. Towels were changed daily, and beds made up as you would expect of a 4star hotel.
We stayed half board which is not something we usually do as we prefer to try out different restaurants, but we made the right decision as the quality of the food was excellent. The service in the restaurant was again friendly and quick and made for several really enjoyable evenings, with drinks afterwards in the comfortable lounge or out on the terrace.
Otherwise, the pool was large with plenty of space around for relaxing either in the shade or full sun; there was an excellent pool bar with snacks; the whole area was very well maintained and exceptionally clean.
In general, we found this hotel to be truly excellent and had a really enjoyable stay. We spoke to many other guests who shared this view as many of them were making return visits. I am certain that we will also be returning.
