We found this well-located small hotel in Ferrara which seemed clean and well-kept. There were problems, though, that made our stay difficult. They didn't have phone service to reach a number outside the hotel from our room and they seemed unaware of what was wrong or how to fix it. At one point, the concierge sent us to a pay phone at the corner which, of course, wasn't working either. In a "matrimonial room" which is two single mattresses side by side, one of the mattresses was truly lumpy and too soft to sleep on while the other was acceptable. They would neither compensate us for these problems or give us the name of the manager or owner to discuss them.

“Great place, great value”
The San Romano is an excellent choice for the average traveler. The inn is located conveniently near the main Piazza Kennedy car park in the old part of town and, thus, provides easy access to the city's more interesting sites. Reception is professional and competent. Front desk and common areas are impecably clean. Rooms are spacious and provide all normal amenities, save multi-language programming. Baths are excellent with new, good-working fixtures. Breakfast is very good and ample. I paid 75E/night over 3 days in mid March. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

- Disliked — no multi-lingual TV programming --- VERY MINOR QUIBBLE
