“Big, beautiful room and friendly service for a reasonable price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

I loved staying at Piazza Nova. My room had lovely old furniture and was warm and spacious with lots of natural light. I thought it was decorated very tastefully. The kitchen was new and well equipped. Ruggero and Emmanuela were so kind and welcoming, They let me speak in my broken Italian, recommended restaurants, and took me to and from the train station. I am a student, and it was very easy to work in the quiet of the hotel.

Breakfasts were lovely, with at least 6 different fresh, local pastries, fruit and yogurt. I felt very well taken care of. They even made cappucinos and espresso for me. The cleaning woman was very thoughtful and efficient.

I hope to go back one day!!!!

“Lovely rooms, amazing hosts, felt completely at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights in October as I was exhibiting artwork in Ferrara. We completely loved this guesthouse, the room upstairs at the top was just fantastic, our home away from home. Located a short walk from town we thoroughly enjoyed exploring Ferrara from this little gem. Any hotel can be nice but what sets this place apart from the rest is the incredible hospitality of the hosts Ruggero and Emanuela, nothing was too much trouble and we greatly enjoyed the conversation over breakfast (which was always delicious). I would recommend Piazza Nova to anyone travelling to this part of Italy!

“warm hospitality in comfortable surroundings”

We had a very pleasant stay at Piazza Nova. Best of all the good things to say about Piazza Nova is the warm and enthusiastic hospitality of Ruggero and Emanuela. Ruggero met us at the train station and pointed out sights in the city as we drove along. Emanuela we found to be as charming and friendly as Ruggero. This is one of the reasons we enjoy the bed and breakfast experience: having a personalized travel experience with a host who really cares about the guests. Every morning we would chat a bit with either Ruggero or Emanuela as they prepared cappucinos, and would learn something of Ferrara and Italy from their point of view. Our rooms (we stayed in two over the course of four days) were very very clean, the beds comfortable and the rooms we stayed in were shielded from traffic noise, so we always had a good nights sleep. As mentioned in other reviews, Ruggero's father bakes fresh cakes every day and this adds a special touch to breakfast. Ferrara is a beautiful and vital city, untouched by mass tourism. We enjoyed several restaurants within reasonable walking distance from Piazza Nova (20 minutes more or less). Our favorites were Noemi's; La Cuca (spelling?) and Cucina e Butega.

“Unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms as the website photos do not do them justice. But there's nothing like the quality of service. Ruggero and Emanuela go out of their way to help their guests, provide fantastic breakfasts that include cakes baked by Ruggero's father, and were happy to recommend where to go for whatever we wanted to see or do. Ruggero is full of wonderful stories about Ferrara, its festivals, but also his own experiences traveling around the world! Ruggero also took us to the train station on our way back.
