“The most friendly and helpful staff you could ever meet”

I stayed here for 3 months and I was amazed at how warm, friendly and helpful the staff were; they made it feel like home. It is well situated about 10 mins walk to Ferrara centre, a journey that could be shortened on one of the hotels free hire bicycles. Breakfast started early from 0600 - 1100 and had a broad choice to suit all tastes. The hotel was very clean with sheets and towels changed daily - outstanding cleaning staff. The hotel provided English newspapers, extra tv channels, sunbeds and a seating area on the terrace to make our stay even more comfortable. A truly outstanding experience and a big thank you to the manager and his staff at Hotel Orologio.............Would very highly recommended.

“Comfortable and well run”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

This hotel gives the impression of catering to business travelers rather than tourists which means that things are handled correctly and efficiently. Business travelers return and may bring colleagues. Tourists tend to leave after one or two days and not return so it doesn't matter how the staff treats tourists.
That being said there are significant savings to be had by checking with the tourist information site for the city for last minute deals. The rack rate is 120 euro/night through the tourist office it went to 80 euro.

“Very nice, apart from the breakfast..”

Pro: our room was very spacious, with wooden floors and a huge wardrobe. We only asked for a room with no carpet, but what we got was a pleasant surprise! Everything was also well cleaned and presented. The staff has been really kind and friendly. They also have some bikes to rent.
Let’s talk about the con:
- The location is not excellent, and you’ll need 15 min walk to reach the historical center. If you want to wake up and see the Estense Castel… well.. keep searching :)
- Breakfast: unfortunately it was the usual, boring, average, medium/low quality food that you get in every single Italian hotel. Nothing more. No freshly squeezed oranges, no home made cakes, no soft croissants, no high quality jams. Only industrial products.
Shame.

“Wonderful hotel and super small city”

my wife and I have just returned from a tour of Ferrara,Venice,Verona and Bologna. We stayed first night here in Ferrara. The Orologio is a really nice hotel with very friendly hotel staff. The room we had was huge and very very nice. I wish we had been able to stay here longer. There is a nice cafe bar called The Red Carpet just near to the hotel and they were also very friendly. Coffee was good as well. The town of Ferrara was an eyeopener as it was almost like being in Amsterdam due to all the bikes and little --to no cars--in the town and the hotel also provide bikes FOC. Great touch I thought. The hotel is actually in easy walking distance from the Rail Station although we took a taxi to it cost was 7 euros but we enjoyed a leisurely walk back and probably took us 10-15 mins maximum. We also ate at one of the recommended restuarants on here which was a bit of a walk. Worth a try although the service was very slow as the menu was only in Italian and the waiter was translating EVERY course to a table of about 6 youger people--God then they started on the wines !!! Anyway that apart we thought it to be good and reasonably priced Try iL cucco its in via Voltacasotto. It looks nothing from outside but dont let that fool you.
