In the autumn, with unstable weather, chances seem to be high that Erice is literally sitting in the clouds with 19 degrees, when at that same time at the beach (or in Trapani) it is sunny and 27 degrees. Erice is indeed located on the rock 780m above the see, that can cause cloud formation, the drive from Tapani to Erice -on a winding road- can take 20 or more minutes. So, every time you leave for a trip (or return from) you have to take the winding road again.
With such weather, the hotel rooms are a bit dark and chill. We guess that with hot weather, it is all great, and the fact that is is cooler can then be very attractive. The sight to the landscape and the sea 700 meters down could be very nice.
The room itself was OK and clean, breakfast was good too.

Lovely concept of detached bungalows ,all on different levels -some with beautiful views-food excellent as was the wine.Helpful staff.

Great location and kind of charming little cottages but also kind of shaggy and worn out. Beds were clean and comfortable.

My wife & I spent a couple of nights at the La Pineta...
After having done the travel around Sicily & stayed in largish towns ( in comparison to Erice ), we had deliberately planned t spend our last 2 nights at the La Pineta... a different concept of Hotel, as opposed to the structured form of a Hotel. The La Pineta, came across as welcome change...the stone cottages !!
Unfortunately, the weather gods played foul with us... being up on the mountain, Erice is subject to harsher waether than the coast ( 5kms away !! )wet & miserable.. & foggy.. this confined, us to bulk of the time, within the confines of the La Pineta. Well, what better way to appreciate a Hotel... the personnel, are so kind & friendly... the people in the kitchen, went out of their way to ensure that catered to our specific needs ( being vegetarians !! ). As the Temperature had dropped down to 5 degrees on the second night, the heating in room, was very well compensated.
No Grouse at all...
