“Best Service”

Stayed here in August 2010 before a cruise. They run a free shuttle to the boat which is handy. It is out of the town centre a bit, but the shuttle makes up for this. The staff at the hotle are very helpful (especially Flippio) & most are English speaking. The hotel is quiet & relaxing.

We went a few days before & after the cruise and really enjoyed our stay. The train to Rome takes only 40mins to an hour.

I would really recommend that anyone staying uses the restaurant in the hotel as the meat, potatoes & wine is the best you will ever have. Excellent all round stay!

Room Tip: Use the restaurant - AMAZING

Review Tenuta dell’ Argento
Civitavecchia, Italy
On a cruise from Rome (Civitavecchia) decided to come one day early in case of airline connection problems; found the Tenuta dell’ Argento hotel online, emailed Filippo, received a quick response and made reservations easily; Filippo’s english was excellent (as we don’t speak Italian) and he made arrangements for a private cab to pick us up at the airport for the 45 minute drive to Civitavecchia (130 Euros) . Arrived at the hotel about 10: 30 am, Filippo showed us two rooms and let us pick which one we wanted! It is NOT the typical US chain hotel, but a very very pleasant small hotel. The hotel is on a hillside about 2 miles from the port and the town, with a beautiful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, the ships at the dock and downtown Civitavecchia. It is a working ranch with horseback riding and beef cattle. We could have stayed downtown in the middle of the action but decided for this pastoral setting instead. It was the right decision for us. It is very quiet and we saw a beautiful sunset, with the sun going down in the west over the water. Customer service is outstanding. We took advantage of their free shuttle and went into town for a couple hours of sightseeing. The waterfront is picturesque, but the town itself is contemporary (since WWII). There is one fort from the 1500’s that is worth seeing. We had dinner at the hotel (8pm-10pm). There is a restaurant attached to the hotel. The English dinner menu is divided into starters, first course, second course, sides and desserts. We ordered two first course and two second course items. Everything was excellent including the house red wine. Remember that there is a working beef cattle ranch associated with the hotel and the filet of beef and the meat rolled with cheese were outstanding. Our room (#23) has a queen sized bed; two pull out couches and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. The only disadvantage is not being able to walk out of the hotel to a downtown area. But overall great choice!

“Surprisingly good prior to cruise-- refreshing atmosphere”

Our group of 7 were all pleasantly surprised by this property -- more like a small resort than a city hotel. Nice looking, good atmosphere. Restaurant food was good, although a little difficult to order (could use more assistance by restaurant staff for those not familar with names of local cuisine). Rooms were comfortable, clean and ample for our short stay, and the van service from train station and to cruiseport was very convenient. Don't suggest trying to find it by yourself unless you know the area. Five star experience -- highly recommend.

Room Tip: If you can, try to get a room with view of cruiseport.

“Friendly, accommodating staff - fluent in many languages”

My family and I were leaving on the Oct 30th sailing of the Navigator of the seas. Since this property was highly rated on TripAdvisor we drove down the night before to ensure we were able to make the ship on time. The hotel is a bit difficult to find as the road was not on our GPS and to make matters worse Google has it wrong (actual location is Lat 11.8501 and Long 42.1056) but we called the front desk and they were able to guide us to the front door. The resort itself is rustic but very nice and clean. The best part was the people, the service and the food. We stayed one night, 4 people, in a large room for 110 euro. And had a free shuttle to and from the port (right to the ship!) and free parking for the week (port costs were 125 euro to park). I highly recommend this property for those traveling on a cruise.

Room Tip: The room was had backed to the restaurant. So it was a bit loud when trying to get kids to bed earl...
