“VERY TIRED AND LACK OF ATMOSPHERE - BADLY NEEDS A REVAMP”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

We stayed for a week and although our room was average others had problems. The food was basic but the bar prices were seriously expensive so much so the nearby cafe was at least half the price. We were allocated on arrival through a Travel Company and it was certainly NOT 4* as we booked. Not ideally situated for the elderly or unfit as it was a good climb from the main square. No tea or coffee facilites in the room or in fact the Hotel other than at meal times. The beds were clean and always had clean towels but i am afraid I would not recommend it. The staff were friendly but the whole place is tired and uninviting..

“Boring hotel lacking engagement”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

We had booked this hotel in a one week package with half pension, but actually checked out in advance.
The hotel has a nice pool, but is very boring in itself. The mismatching furnitures seem to be from the 80's. Most of the rooms seem to have at least a small balcony, but even though we booked several months in advance we got a depressing room with a tiny balcony towards the parking lot.
A three course meal was included, but it did not represent the well known good italian food reputation. The chef did not seem to be inspired at all, which of course is the managements responsbility.
The beds are very hard and uncomfortable, which also other guests said.
Over all we got the feeling that the managements interest was mostly to save money.

“Good as a base for touring Tuscany”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

The hotel is quiet, with lovely views and a nice pool. It is indeed a pity it is at the top of the hill.

The hotel is a bit tired round the edges, but they say it is going to be reburbished shortly.

We had a room on the top floor, which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Shower had only a plastic curtain though, and WC badly positioned.

The (Riviera) food was good (choice of 2), breakfast fine, the evening meal was well cooked and served with fair speed.

“Lovely Hotel, nice and clean with friendly staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2007

We recently stayed for 4 days in Hotel Raffaello while attending a wedding in Tuscany. The hotel is situated about 15/20 kms (roughly 25 euro taxi ride) from Chuisi train station. Its a nice clean friendly hotel, with a good buffet breakfast and 70s decor. The staff were friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. The reception area has a bright nicely decorated foyer with comfy sofas for relaxing. The bedrooms were standard twin with en-suite facilities - the quality and cleaniness of rooms, bedclothes, towels and whole hotel in general was excellent. The only drawback is the fairly steep hill its situated on, tough on the legs coming home!! The town has lots of shops but very few restaurants, but we were lucky to find Roxy Bar which serves lovely food and reasonably priced. The hotel does serve dinner but we didn't avail of this. The location of the hotel is peaceful and there are sun loungers and chairs around the pool and garden to relax. I would recommend Hotel Raffaello if you are looking for a relaxed clean and friendly hotel - its not posh but it is very user friendly and would a good base for touring! Car parking is available but again we didn't avail of this.

  • Liked — Friendly staff, clean relaxed place to stay.
  • Disliked — Steep Climb but mini bus available for elderly guests
