We wanted to spend a week on the beautiful coast of Tuscany to relax and we choosed to stay in a bungalow in Rocchette pinewood.
We booked for the last week of August at 1200 € so I expected a first level accomodation, regardless of other village services.
Once we entered the bungalow I noticed lot of dust on every surface, even on the door and shutters, meaning the weekly cleaning they carried out during the summer season was far from scrupulous. The dining area lamp was fixed with tape! Looking at the bathroom tiles it looked like they built the bungalow in just one day. While this showed very little attention to details it has a side effect, badly layed down bathroom tiles tend to absorb dirt over time, giving that filthy look everyone hates. And apart from the look, the bathroom was really dirty.
As other reviewers noted, the most surprising thing is that the bungalow, set in a lushing pinewood, was lacking of mosquito curtains!
The sea is great while a beach umbrella in a bathing establishment is really expensive. As the village doesn't offer this service you have to pay for it on your own, about 200 €. You have to consider this when you compare Rocchette with other villages of hotels.

We stayed in Le Rocchette for two weeks, and just returned.

What a beautiful place! The location is a bit away from Castiglione, so we used the car a lot. The days were spent at the wonderful pool - I've never seen anything like it and the children just loved it. We visited the nearby beach only once (10 mins walk - very warm!!!) - the beach was also lovely and not at all packed, probably because it's not really season yet.
The animation was great - babydisco every night and activities during the day, unfortunately only italian language spoken. The staff was great to our children and very good at communicating and making the guests feel welcome.
We were surprised to see that almost all guests were italian families with children, except a few from Switzerland and Germany but none from Scandinavia. Language barriers were greater than we are used to from other countries, and actually a problem for the children in socializing. Luckily I speak some Italian, and got to practice a lot during our stay.
The bungalow area was less impressive - lots and lots of pretty small bungalows without privacy and with a rather simple furniture and small and dark outside areas. Lots of bush around the bungalows made the mosquitos love the place and us hate them. The aircondition worked poorly, but requests for maintenance didn't result in any action taken from the staff.
The restaurant was very good and reasonably priced, and a great alternative to going out at nights.
All in all a great experience, and I would recommend the place, most of all to families with children.
