“small rooms, excellent food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

we got a seaview room with balcony and loved it even if it was really tiny.
Service and food are really excellent and most people staying here go for the full board that includes a lavish buffet lunch served on the beach.
Most people staying when we were there were older single ladies and therefore the hotel was very quiet.
The hotel staying includes umbrella and chaise longue on the hotel's private beach.

“Great location directly on the beach and delicious menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2009

We spent one week of our vacation in Cervia and returned home relaxed and satisfied.

Grand Hotel Cervia is the only hotel directly located on the beach and offers free use of a beach umbrella and deck chair. It's a big advantage in value, because when you stay in other hotels you need first to cross the street (lungomare) and find yourself a public spot (lido) where they charge you ridiculous prices per chair and umbrella (ca. EUR170.- per week). The hotels beach has also a little bar where you can get delicious coffee.

The water quality in Cervia was mostly good, some days worse one day perfectly clear.

We enjoyed full board and liked the extensive breakfast buffet (more than you usually can expect from Italy) and the four course lunch and dinner. Both dinner and lunch offered also a cold buffet as appetizer with lots of vegetables and salads. The menu choices were very good and we enjoyed just about every course.
The BIG disappointment was the service during the first few days. It often took forever to get the next course served, sometimes even the wrong dish, sometimes only 2 dishes at a time while the other two at the table had to wait for their dish. We were pretty stressed out about this, because we spent too much time at the table (lunch 2:15hrs) while we had our baby son at the table. He of course didn't like sitting around this long, so we had to put him to bed for his nap while continuing our lunch or dinner afterward.
We finally complained to the MaîtreD and also to the hotel manager on the second day. After our complaint the staff made an effort to work more efficiently. Finally after the third day the service was back to normal again, though sometimes a little lengthy. But of course you're on vacation and it's nice to relax and chat and not spend too much sun outdoors under the hot sun over noon!

The rooms were cleaned and replenished with fresh towels and linens every day. They are rather small in size, we had to move some furniture aside to make space for the baby cot. As soon as we were unpacked we had to put away the suitcases, as the bed was the only spot with enough space to open them up. Fortunately we received a first floor, sea-view room which offered a balcony. That space was our rescue, as our son could run out on that extra space and we could hand up our beach towels and swim trunks.

As mentioned above we traveled with our son (17 months old) and also with his grandfather and grandmother. Italy is in general very friendly towards young families and service staff easily help out with special needs for your kids. This hotel confirmed this by all means.

If you're looking to get an internet connection, there is a free terminal near the lobby. The hotel also offers wifi in the rooms at a charge.

Parking is free.

You can get bikes to roam Cervia at no charge, there's a bike path all along the beach.

“Lovely hotel and amazing location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2008

We are from the UK and are returning guests to the Grand Hotel Cervia for many years now. For the past few years we have been looked after amazingly, by the hotel manager Ms Irene Eddie. Nothing is ever too much for her and she always bends backwards to accommodate our requests/wishes and with a big smile. The hotel is wonderfully situated on the lovely Cervia coast and has it’s own beach. The rooms are not very big, but for the most, are of decent size. As of this year, the rooms also have Satellite TV (which is especially nice for non Italian speakers) as well as wireless Internet connection. The hotel has a nice bar, restaurant and very friendly and accommodating staff. We highly recommend this property!!!

“Had A Fantastic Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2008

Our third stay at Grand Hotel Cervia - this time on our honeymoon

First stay 2005 7 nights- we arrived searching for a hotel at the beach, and stumbled over Grand Hotel Cervia. Met by a lovlely ladie - the hotel manager Irene. She helped us in every way, and made our first stay a fantastic experience!!!!!

Second stay 2006 7 nights - made reservation directly with the hotel managar - she made it possible for me to have a romantic night at the beach with my (at that time ) girlfriend, and the night ended with med asking my girlfriend if she wanted to marry me!!! The hotel fixed flowers, champagne, nice sea front room, everything was perfect!

Third stay 2008 8 nights - our honeymoon spent at Grand Hotel Cervia - made reservation directly with the hotel, again the hotel manager Irene helped us in every way to have a perfect honeymoon.

What's special with Cervia and the Grand Hotel?

- the little town is a romantic slow city, with both nice shops and good resturants (recomend the resturant del mura)
- Grand hotel is a old hotel, you can feel the history and atmosphere.
.- fanatstic beach
- staff, expecially the hotel manager Irene, works their socks off to make your stay as best as possible!!

“Lovely Hotel But Needs Some Restyling”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2008

Lovely hotel situated directly on the beach. The hotel is abandoned and seems that the owners are not interested to restyle it. The staff try to do their best but they lack the facilities to offer better services.
The restaurant is beautiful but the service is scarse.
Reception service - average
Hotel manager - very young Kenyan lady and very professional
Housekeepers - very kind but they don't speak english.
