I thought this would be perfect - a pleasant walk out of town with easy parking. What a mistake. It is one of the noisiest hotels I have ever stayed in.
First of all I was given a room at the back overlooking a bit of scrubland, even though only a few of the sea-facing rooms were occupied. The management seemed to give rooms at the front to Italians and those at the back to those from other countries.
When I got back to the room about 10.30pm, there was quite a bit of corridor noise and people talking in adjacent rooms until about midnight. From then on I could very clearly hear the man next door snoring - even though I had earplugs.
When I went into the bathroom the next morning I could hear every word the lady was saying next door - I could even translate some of her German!
That's not the worst of it - not by a long way. At about 5.30am, there started an intermittent banging and an occasional, loud roaring sound, like a train going past (it wasn't). This quickly developed into what sounded like someone completely rearranging the furniture in their room - scraping and banging.
I went to investigate and it was coming from below, where the restaurant/kitchen area was, though I still couldn't find the culprits as doors were locked.
Then at 6.15am, with the banging and scraping carrying on, they decided to put on the TV or radio loudly as well.
If they treat their own paying guests this way, I wouldn't like to be their enemy!
And when I checked out I was greeted by two little Yorkshire terriers yapping away at my ankles
I didn't even bother with breakfast - I just wanted to get out of here and have a sleep in the car!
