“Magical place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We had a nice apartment in this delightful converted convent, on a hillside overlooking the beautiful coast. The pool was magnificent, and the setting and atmosphere were really special, with olive groves and fruit trees all around (we particularly enjoyed picking the figs and prickly pears!), even a private chapel. Veronique was full of good advice and stories. The only criticism would be that the mattress was perhaps a little too hard for us. Overall, a fantastic place to stay, and excellent value.

“Beautiful Accommodation on the northern coast of Sicily”

Although it poured with rain three days in a row this accommodation, just outside of Cefalu, was worth a visit. We stayed in a very nice and modern appartment part of a restored castle.
It contained a nice spacious bedroom with a lovely modern living room upstairs with a splendid view of the garden and the coastline. There is an open fireplace (plenty of wood) to make the evenings nice and cosy. You can also prepare your own meals because the living room is equipped with a small kitchenette.
The garden is most beautiful. Pick your own oranges and lemons! Have a swim in the lovely pool and just relax and enjoy the wonderful view.
Our hostess Veronique made our stay worthwhile and gave us valuable tips of places to visit.

Room Tip: The one facing the sea

“Stay away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2007

We booked a room with a balcony and refrigerator and fan. We were given a room on the first floor with none of the above. When we opened the window everyone could see in to the room. We then discovered bugs in the bed. We tried to find the owners but they had a sign "gone call us" We had no mobile phone. They clearly did not want to be found. The breakfast was the worst one on the trip. It appears that the owners are not up to being in the hotel business.

The location is nice, it needs new management.

“A perfect place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2007

We stayed here for two days. I have travelled a lot and have been in many hotels but this was one of the most impressing places where I have stayed. The villa is situated between olive and citrus trees, but you also find banane plants and other fruit plants. You can relax at the swimming pool which is quite big. The appartements are completely silent and only the train which passes by once per hour, disturbes the silence, but it is not very noisy. The appartements have been very recently renovated and everything seems to be quite new. In order to keep the authentic style in the appartements, they left some original walls. The bed room was even equipped with a mosquito net, and the views from the villa are impressing. The only things I was missing in the appartements have been a microwave oven, a shower cabin (there is a shower, but only with a curtain). Nevertheless, these small details are nothing in comparison with the value what you get for your money. I was completely satisified. The owners are very nice and I felt perfectly there. I definitely will stay here again and the next time for more days.

“Beautiful Villa Palamara”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2007

27/07/07 We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Cefalu, staying at Villa Palamara. The location is incredible with fantastic sea views one side and the beautiful hills on the other. We stayed in a villa that slept 6, be warned there is no air conditioning but there are fans, so can get a bit warm at night. The villa is a converted convent and absolutely gorgeous. The villa grounds are surrounded by sicilian lemon trees, figs, vines and various other fruits. We went with our children (ages 7 -14) they enjoyed the infinity pool immensley. (15x30m) The facilities are very basic, breakfast and an evening meal can be taken in the restaurant but 24 hours notice is required. There is no bar, shops or activities on site (just pool and restaurant). Car hire is essential and the drive leading to the villa takes a bit of getting used to! (very tight and twisting track) The owners and staff at the villa are lovely and helpful and car hire can be arranged through there own car rental company at very reasonable prices. Transfer from Palermo to the villa is about an hour. The villa is about a 5 minute drive from Cefalu which has beautiful medieval streets. The beach is within walking distance of the villa (about 10 mins) but no footpath. The beach is mainly large pebbles with sandy patches there is a shop on the beach selling drinks, ice-creams etc. Overall fantastic scenery and villa very nice but would be better with air conditioning.
