References such as "sun-drenched Via dei Mulini winds its way up among olive trees and orange groves that skirt the stream" are simply misleading. This hotel is a considerable distance form the town centre and Via dei Mulini is a steep, poorly lit road in a predominantly residential area and it is not pleasant at any time especially in the dark. The hotel is clean but rooms are tiny, a junior suite is just one room and in my view less spacious than a basic budget hotel room in the UK. My "front sea view terrace" was a tiny balcony, too small for a table and with a side sea view. Swimming pool is small but adequate, nice tennis court and small well kept grounds. The shuttle does not run in the early evening as the hotel clearly wants to encourage guests to eat there. This is a nuisance and means a long and not very pleasant walk into town or taking a taxi. Overall we were very disappointed as this hotel is very much on the outskirts of town in an unattractive residential area. Accommodation was cramped and basic. Positive points were that it was very clean and public areas were pleasant. However it in no way matched the description on the hotel website or holiday brochure. I would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 9 nights. Hotel is located fifteen minutes walk away from Cefalu centre up a very steep set of steps through a residential area. Hot work on a warm evening! Hotel is in a pleasant location with reasonable views but nothing impressive.The sunny side of the hotel looks out over a small valley and the local hospital, all be it a few hundred metres away. The room was ok except the air conditioning did not work, despite the reception being informed on three occassions. As no air con we openned the window only to be eaten alive by mosquitoes and boy do they bite! The main fault with with the room was the very hard bed matrass. The matrass had to be the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. Again we told the hotel who were unable to do anything. This resulted in sleepless painfull nights which spoilt our holiday. Only bearable because we made use of the massage service provided through the hotel, very relaxing. We had half board, the food was great very tastey with good waiter service. The staff were all very helpfull & friendly and most spoke English. The swimming pool was relaxing surrounded by pine and palm trees. Car parking is good. Would we stay again no, not until they get the beds sorted they were very uncomfortable!

We liked the room although the balcony was tiny. There was a good pool. Very good breakfast. We ate dinner in the hotel the first night because the weather was dreadful. We were not impressed - service was over formal, food was mediocre, wine was very expensive.

Cefalu is a great tourist location, but this hotel lies a little too far from the center to deserve full marks. It is a good 15 min downhill walk from the centre, through a little dingy area. The hotel itself, though, compensates much through quiet location, cleanliness and friendly service. We would take another hotel next time due to location.
