“nice enough”

I know why my husband and I were a bit dissapointed in this resort. It was because we have been members of club la costa for 11 years now and have been going to our resorts in spain and scotland and this just does not come close to them in terms of quality and amenities. Don't get me wrong there was nothing wrong with it if you are used to going on package holidays ( and I know that sounds snobby I cant put it any other way, sorry).
I gave it 3 stars for cleanliness as it was clean when we arrived but we are used to getting our place cleaned and new towels every day not just once or twice a week, and I have no problem cleaning the place myself.
There is not much to do. You cant use the pool between 12 and 4 as it is 'lunch' and there is no pool, guard.
My husband like the TV on holiday it is how he relaxes, and we had one channel which was in english, it is really geared towards the german market.
The food at the restaurant was really nice though and the pizzas were fantastic.
The little grocery store was ok for basics but very expensive 4 euros for the smallest jar of coffee you can get!
We never had a car this time but to be honest it was ok as there is a bus service in to cefalu( which is beautiful), but I would have expected the timetable to be put in the resort info and not left to chance that people will enquire at the reception about a bus service!
I enjoyed myself there but truthfully would not go back.

“thought it was great”

Taken me a while to put review on here but me and my girlf stayed here on a 3 month trip around europe and found the place was wonderful. Great rooms, with a cool little kitchenette with all mod cons, intergrated applicances, nice front room, great bedroom, nice balcony, good air con system. Set amongst fruit and olive tress. It is a little steep in places but that's fine. Nice walk down to private beach - was full of little jelly fish which we were assured was fine but we didn't want to risk it. Cefalu itself is about 5k but we hired a moped as there was only two of us and really enjoyed zipping to town - occassionally getting stopped as the trains crossed - pretty little place very picturesque. Great location on a cliff side and a good base to then go off to Etna, Palermo, etc we used the moped to go to Palermo down winding country lanes it was beautiful - we did stay a bit too long and drove back in the rain wearing shorts etc but it was an adventure and we look back with fond memories. Just brace yourself for those nutter Italina drivers.

Climb the great cliff/rock if you have the legs for it, nice to watch the sun set from up there - think it's an old fort. Town was fine, little cafes, restaurants, bars - slightly chic - had some really enjoyable meals there - had the best swordfish I've ever eaten. The main beach here was also fine but as we went slightly out of season it was fine being down on the private beach. Nothing bad to say really - not sure if we were just caught up in moment but we spent more time here than anywhere else in europe - we then took a train all the way to Venice (23hrs) which was also part of the adventure. Not sure why there haven't been more reviews about this place - I'd suggest going - unless it's all gone rubbish since we were there I would at least investigate further - we booked through expedia and got a good deal as well. Happy Holidays :o)

“Good place for a family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2009

A bit difficult to find as the resort is now actually owned by managed by a Swiss company called Hapimag. There were no references to Pierre et Vacances or Les Orangers on roadsigns anywhere.
Set several miles outside Cefalu, you will need a car to get into town. There is just one restaurant on the resort, food was good but menu was limited.
We are a family of 5. The accommodation was a decent size and clean, good value for money. Two of the children slept in the living room the third has to share a room with us.
The resort is in a pretty location with great views of the coast. The swimming pool was nice but got very busy in the morning and late afternoon. the kid's pool is only suitable for tiny tots.
The kids clubs were mainly used by the Italians and catered for small children and teenagers. Ours being inbetween: 6 to 11 weren't really catered for. This wasn't really a problem though, the beach was beautiful, (there is a beach cafe and free sunbeds) excellent for swimming. We used the pedalos and canoes on a regular basis.
Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

“Good Quality Accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2006

Stayed at Les Oranges Mid October 2006.

Found the Quality of the Accommodation to be Very Good / Excellent. The room looked as if it was in a reasonably new / recently refurbished accommodation. The bed was very good and the kitchen very clean and well equiped with clean usable cooking equipment and cutley, etc.

The Setting for the Apartments were very nice, in well maintained gardens, with an abundance of flowers / orange trees, including the short walk to the beach.

The small beach was sandy and clean, but rather small - approx 250m long x 10m wide.

The accommodation is set on one side of a small stream/valley with the reception / swimming pool / resturant the other side. This involved quite a lot of steps, but the resort was design so that you could probably avoid the steps if necessary by following the accommodation road.

Although it is classed as Cefalu on websites, the accommodation is actually in Mazzaforno, about 5 kilometers west of Cefalu, in a quiet area with limited restaurant oportunities but very easily accessible by car.

The accommodation did have a restaurant, which appeared popular, but also rather expensive / 'smart' (We did not use it prefering to travel into Cefalu)

If you have a car and dont mind travelling into Cefalu or elsewhere to restaurants / bars or are interested in using the apartment kitchen then I totally recommend this complex.

If you dont have a car for the duration, or have mobility difficulites then I suggest you look at somewhere a bit more central / level, but i doubt the accomodation will be beter than this, which offered very good value for money.

(Also thought Cefalu was good, especially the cathedral)

“Excellent place to stay”

Very clean, modern furnished apt's & bathroom, after 5 days - first place in Sicily where staff speaks english & german. If you are not on B&B, you have to pay for your breakfast every morning. Sometimes credit cards won't be accepted, because of failure of machine or staff... Small sandy beach & worth to visit other beaches in / near Cefalu...
