We stayed here in September 2009 in apartment 'C' which is the larger, pool-level apartment. We were five adults. I had done some research beforehand and already worked out how to get to the residence - we approached from the autostrada exit to the east of Cefalu which was actually pretty straightforward.
I'd booked through 'Authentic Italy' and check-in' was very informal - no one asked for a breakages deposit which I was expecting.
Be warned that the web-site photos make the pool and exterior seem a lot larger than they actually are. I'll post some photos that I took. The pool is quite small and would be crowded if the residence was full and there were lots of children around.
The apartment was of good quality and spacious - certainly big enough for our group although only one bathroom was an inconvenience. Another minor annoyance was that there were no things left for convenience, such as washing-up liquid, dishwasher tabs etc. (The previous week we had spent in another location where all that stuff had been left from previous occupants which was quite useful)
Towels and linen were changed mid-week, and the exterior grounds and pool area were well-maintained. The sun-beds etc looked a little worn, but it was end-of-season.
The location was OK although the immediate surroundings are a bit scruffy. We walked into Cefalu on 3 evenings - the walk was OK although it was necessary to cross the busy road a couple of times. It's all downhill into town, and all uphill back so wouldn't suit people of limited mobility. You can be in Cefalu central piazza within 15 mins.
The main problem (as always) is noise. Being in the largest apartment which spans the whole building, there were two apartments above. The soundproofing is hopeless and you can hear everything - particularly the scraping of the chairs on the tiled floor which is a sound I never wish to hear again! One of the apartments above was occupied by a famlity with a small child who seemed to be re-arranging the furniture continuously from an early hour.
Also, on the opposite slope of the valley about 200 metres away is a house with dogs - the dogs bark continually and at any hour of the day or night.
There's quite a hefty charge for linen and 'final cleaning' which I knew about, but it still seemed a lot! Parking was free on the road (plenty of space). The wireless internet access was a bit unreliable but was OK when it worked.
Overall - I liked the spaciousness of the apartment, the good quality fittings and the proximity of the pool. I was neutral about the location - it was walkable into town. I didn't like only one batroom in an aprtment for 6 and mostly the noise aspects which I've described, so for that reason I wouldn't choose to stay there again.
One last tip - it's quite possible to walk up to La Rocca from the residence, but don't start out too early - the path is closed until 9 a.m.
